A 14-year old school boy, Perinpanathan Sivanathan (14) was killed and at least 15 houses were damaged when Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers stationed at Kaddaiparichchan camp shelled Tamil villages in Muttur South, Saturday morning. Two civilians were also wounded in the shelling, villagers said.

The troops were retaliating to a rocket-attack on the Kaddaiparichchan camp by the Liberation Tigers, around 6.45 a.m. Saturday. Two SLA soldiers were killed in this attack, security sources said.

Kaddaiparichchan SLA camp is situated at the entrance to more than ten Tamil villages held by Liberation Tigers in Muttur south.

The SLA launched heavy shelling on the villages of Samupr, Kadatkaraichchenai, Pattalipuram and Kaddaiparichchan, causing severe damages to properties, the villagers said.
