More LTTE offices open in Jaffna

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 07 May 2002, 15:12 GMT]
The Liberation Tigers Monday opened an office in Vathiri in the Vadamaradchchi sector of the Jaffna peninsula, local press reports said. Another LTTE office to serve the Thenmaradchi sector was scheduled to open in Sangaththanai Tuesday. These and other LTTE offices are being set up in Sri Lankan government controlled territory under the terms of the permanent ceasefire signed between the two sides in February.

Father Anotheys performed the official opening of the Vathiri office, while the parents of late LTTE Major Rathika lit a flame of sacrifice. The mother of late Captain Miller unveiled the nameplate. Thaya, the coordinator, hoisted the Tamil national flag. The guests present then paid a floral tribute to portraits of fallen Tamil fighters.

Among the speakers at the opening ceremony were Ilamparithi, Tamil Tigers’ Head of Political Section for Jaffna District, Thamilvili, head of the women’s political section in the Jaffna District, a senior representative of the LTTE, Mr Paappa as well as other religious leaders and local politicians.
