Jaffna visits of ministers said futile

Jaffna district Tamil National Alliance parliamentarian Mr.M.K.Sivajilingam Thursday said that several ministers of the United National Front government visit Jaffna as mere tourists and leave without taking any concrete steps to alleviate the sufferings of the people here while participating in several engagements with the School Education Minister Mr. Suranimala Rajapakse who arrived Jaffna Thursday on an official visit.
The Minister declared open library buildings at Puttalai Maha Vidiyalyam, Puloly Methodist Mission School, North Hindu Girls College, Nelliady Central Maha Vidiyalyam, Imaiyanan Tamil School, Karanavai PonnambalaVidiyalayam, Kambarmalai Government Tamil School in the Vadamarachchi division and at Koddady Namasivayam Vidiyalyam and Jaffna Hindu Primary School. The minister later declared open book exhibitions at Valvettithurai Girls' College and Udupiddy American Mission College. The minister handed over 22 computers and two televisions to schools at a function held at Jaffna Vembadi Girls College. Mr.K.Shanmugalingam, Northeast provincial ministry secretary and several officials accompanied the minister.
