New SLA camp at Sakkottai

The Sri Lanka Army has established a new camp at Sakkottai, Vadamaradchi division in Jaffna district. The SLA personnel are engaged in constructing bunkers around the new camp, residents said.
The establishment of a new army camp has caused tension among the residents of the village, a human rights activist said. Meanwhile, Jaffna fishermen continued their picketing in front the of the Jaffna District Secretariat and the Divisional Secretariat for the fourth day demanding freedom to fish without any restriction. The day-to-day functions of these government offices have been paralyzed since Friday due to the picketing. In the meantime, students of Point Pedro Hartley College and the Methodist Girls College continued their boycott of classes for the second day, demanding the removal of the army from their school buildings.The Sri Lanka Army has established a new camp at Sakkottai, Vadamaradchi division in Jaffna district.
