SLA occupies more Jaffna homes

The Sri Lankan armed forces are expanding and bolstering a chain of sentry posts along the Jaffna coastline, the largest circulating daily in the peninsula, the Uthayan, reported Thursday. Meanwhile, in Nunavil East, the SLA has taken over more than ten homes for their camp, and is constructing bunkers, residents told TamilNet.
The coastal defences being strengthened are in Pommaiveli, Navanthurai and Kakkaitivu, the Uthayan said. Troops are using barbed wire, sandbags and logs, the paper added. The army's new camp in Nunavil East is apparently to provide security to the two roads that the SLA is constructing for itself between Nunavil and Maravanpulo. Members of the public dismantled the sentry posts abandoned by the SLA in Meesalai, the Uthayan also said Thursday.
