LTTE opens third office in Ampara

The Liberation Tigers' third political office in the Ampara district began work last week, press reports said. The new office in Kalmunai, located near the Fatima college on the Kalmunai-Batticaloa main road, was inauguarated Friday last week, the Virakesari reported on Tuesday.
The LTTE earlier opened offices Akkaraipattu and Thirukovil in the district. The head of the LTTE’s political section for Batticaloa-Ampara, Mr. S. Karikalan, raised the LTTE’s flag and initiated the ceremony. LTTE regional officials including head of administration, Mr. Suki, deputy head of the women’s wing, Ms. Gaya, head of finance, Mr. Henry, and head of the revenue section, Mr. Janardhanan were present. The office’s sign was unveiled by head of the political section in the Ampara district, Mr. Pava and the military commander for Ampara, Mr. Stanley. Mrs. Elupathy Karikalan cut the ribbon and declared the office open.
