TRO assists resettlement in Kanniya

The Trincomalee branch of Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO), Wednesday handed over a cheque for fifty thousand rupees to Swami Sugasthanandaji to facilitate the resettlement of displaced Tamil families in and around Kanniya village by constructing resting hall ('madam').
Swami Sugasthanandaji has been entrusted with the task of providing all assistance to the resettlers, according to TRC sources. "The TRO is giving fifty thousand rupees to Swami Sugasthanandaji from the hundred and forty thousand rupees collected at a musical show in Trincomalee recently, to construct a resting hall called "Bramashetrya Nilayam " at Kilikunchumalai in Kanniya with a view to render necessary assistance to the displaced people who return to resettle village," said Mr.S.Kumaragurparan, Secretary of the TRO, Trincomalee district branch at a function held at TRO office Wednesday afternoon. He added "this is first resettlement project undertaken by the TRO since its started work in Trincomalee. Twenty five displaced families would be resettled initially under this project ." Mr.S.Thandauthapani, President of the Ceylon Tamil Teachers Union and Principal of Trincomalee Koneswara Hindu College, Mr.N.Singaraveloo, Secretary of the Consortium of Non-Governmental Organisations in Trincomalee and Swami Sugasthanandaji also spoke at the meeting.
