The Attorney General has decided to indict a group of Sri Lanka Army officials for the killing of eight Tamil civilians at Mirusuvil in Jaffna district before a three-member bench of the High Court. The Attorney General is to make a request to the Chief Justice shortly to name the judges for the Trail-at-Bar inquiry, legal sources said.
Two years ago a mass grave was discovered at Mirusuvil in Thenmaradchi area and decomposed bodies of eight Tamil civilians were recovered. A group of SLA officers were arrested later in connection with the massacre. These army officers are now to be tried before a Trail-at-Bar inquiry without jury for the murder of eight civilians, sources said.
