UK envoy holds discussion with Thamilchelvan

The British High Commissioner in Sri Lanka, Mr. Stephen Evans, Friday met the
political head of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam Mr.S.P.Thamilselvan
at Killinochchi and discussed issues related to development of northeast. A team of officials including Mr. Nicholas Brewer, Director
General of Programme, Department of International Development, accompanied
the UK envoy.
The UK envoy arrived in Palaly by air Friday morning and held discussions with
the Jaffna District Government Agent Mr.N.Shanmuganthan and other local
heads of government departments to assess the situation on the ground. The
UK delegation then visited Navanthurai Tamil Government School. Later the
delegation visited Nallur Kandasamy Temple. The UK delegation left Jaffna in the afternoon by road through A9 highway
to Killinochchi and held discussions with the political head of the LTTE
Mr.Thamilchevan at the Killinochchi secretariat. The UK delegation returned Colombo by Sri Lanka Air Force helicopter Friday evening, sources said.
