SC Judge to address Human Rights celebrations in Trincomalee

A full day programme to celebrate the International Human Rights Day will be held in Trincomalee on December 19 and Mr.C.V.Vigneswaran, Judge of the Sri Lanka's Supreme Court will deliver the keynote address on the topic "Human
Rights and Peace," sources in Trincomalee said.
The Eastern Rehabilitation Organization (ERO), UNHCR, UNICEF, UNDP, Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka, Rotary Club and Legal Aid Foundation are sponsoring this programme. Trincomalee District Government Agent (GA)
Mr.N.H.K.Nelumdeniya and the acting head of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) in Trincomalee Mr. Tore Flennfeldft will be the guests of honour. Arts exhibits submitted for the HR day competition will be displayed during the celebrations. The Centre for Performing Arts will stage a play "Unceasing feelings" based on Human Rights issues, sources said. In the afternoon a symposium will be held on "Human Rights and Peace". Mr.Nimalan Karthikeyan, Assistant Secretary General of the Peace Council of Sri Lanka will be the moderator. Rev. Mahakadawela Punniyasara Thera.
Mr.V.T. Thamilmaran, Senior Lecturer in Law at Colombo University and a senior lawyer from Trincomalee Mr.O.L.M.Ismail will participate in the symposium.
