Jaffna mourns fallen sea tigers

Preparations are underway to observe today as a day of mourning for the sea tigers who took their lives in the seas near Nedunthivu when the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) tried to forcefully move their disabled trawler to the shore, Uthayan, a Jaffna daily said in its Saturday edition.
Residents of Jaffna have been shocked by the tragic incident, sources said. The Liberation Tigers (LTTE) has requested the public to fly black flags to mark the day of mourning, to pay respects to the fallen cadres and to play sombre music. The names of the sea-tigers who perished are:
- Sea Tiger Major Aatalone or Suthan (Krishnaswamy Satheeswaran of Chavakachcheri)
- Sea Tiger Captain Pothikai Thevan (Sivagnanasundaramoorthy Thayaparan, Puloly South)
- Sea Tiger Captain Anton or Oorvannan (Rasiah Kugathas, Ariyalai)
