'Peoples' commitment needed to achieve peace'- Westborg

Sri Lanka's Norwegian ambassador Mr.Jon Westborg Saturday appealed to all citizens to continue their commitment to overcome the obstacles in the path
of achieving permanent peace, while addressing a meeting Saturday held at the Colombo Town Hall to mark the one-year completion of the ceasefire agreement signed by the United National Front (UNF)government and the Liberation
Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
"My government considers it a great privilege to participate in a facilitator role
to bring permanent peace in the island," said Mr. Westborg. The Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Resettlement Ministry and the
National Peace Council organized the meeting, sources said. Mr.Jon Westborg requested the UNF government and LTTE to make further
commitment to realize the main objective of the ceasefire agreement. Minister Dr.Jayalath Jayawardene also spoke.
