Trinco Rotary organizes home economics exhibition

"The younger generation should be encouraged to shun white-collar jobs and facilities should be created to engage them in
self-employment projects, which could ensure self-reliance and economic prosperity in their lives," said the President of the Trincomalee Rotary Club, Mr.R.Thirukumaranathan, addressing a gathering after he declared open a
one-day exhibition on Home Economics in the east port town.
The exhibition was organized under the patronage of the Trincomalee Rotary Club in connection with the International Women's Day at Trincomalee Social
Service Centre hall. The youths of today seeks white-collar jobs in public sector.
White-collar jobs do not always provide better future in the longer run. Instead they should undertake self-employment projects with proper planning, Mr.Thirukumaranathan added. Mr.Thirukumaranathan participating as the chief guest said ninety percent of the population of the country is for permanent peace and only a small percent is working against the peace process. The President of the Trincomalee Women Welfare Association Ms Dr.Balasingham also attended the function as guest of honour. The Mother
Superior of the Trincomalee St Mary's Convent Sr Theresilda also spoke. Certificates were awarded to all the participants of the exhibition, sources said.
