SLFP Jaffna treasurer fired

Three ex-militant Tamil groups, the EPDP, DPLF and EPRLF, are opening branch offices in all the electorates in the Jaffna peninsula, in anticipation of Provincial Council elections in June this year, said sources in Jaffna.

Meanwhile Mr. Mangala Nesan, the district treasurer for the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), who unsuccessfully contested the local government elections in Jaffna peninsula under the symbol of the EPRLF has been asked to resign from his post as well as from the party, said party sources in Jaffna.

This order came from Colombo under the hand of Mr. Velmurugu Thangarajah, SLFP organiser for the Jaffna District.
