SLA bike patrols horrify Vadamaradchy residents

The Sri Lanka Army (SLA) has resumed its ' field bike group ' patrolling in several parts of the Vadamarachchi division in Jaffna district causing fear among Tamil people. The field bike group patrolling of the SLA was stopped with the signing of the ceasefire agreement between the Government of Sri Lanka (GoSL) and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), civil sources said.
SLA's field bike group that patrolled the main road in Vadamarachchi division Sunday evening interrogated several Tamil youths at gunpoint at the Nelliyady-Thikkam junction causing panic among residents in the area,
sources said. The SLA field bike group Sunday patrolled the Udupiddy-Ellankulam war memorial areawhen the head of the LTTE Martyr's Unit Mr.Pon Thiyagam was holding talks
with the people of the area. Residents were visibly disturbed when they saw the SLA field bike group army personnel at the site, sources said.
