Two killed, thirteen injured in Jaffna vehicle accident

Two persons died and thirteen others seriously wounded when a passenger van from Punguduthivu, overturned around 2 p.m, Tuesday, when it was negotiating a bend at the Allaipitty army checkpoint, police said. Punguduthivu is an islet located about 30km from Jaffna town.

The assistant of the van, 25 year old Sinniah Sivalingam and fifteen year old Thiyagan Mayuran, both residents of Pungudutheivu, died on the spot, the police said.

Wounded passengers have been admitted to the Jaffna teaching hospital, medical sources said.
