TRO office opened at Thampalakamam

The Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) Trincomalee district secretariat Friday opened its second divisional branch at Thampalakamam, 16 km. west of Trincomalee town. The first branch of the TRO was opened at Chenaiyoor in the LTTE held Mutur east. A pre-school also was opened on the same day at Thampalakamam.

| LTTE Trincomalee district political head Mr.S.Thilak unveiled the name board of the Thampalakamam TRO branch. TRO Trincomalee district co-ordinator Mr.K.Mathavarajah declared open the branch office by cutting the ribbon. Earlier the preschool of the TRO was declared open by the Thampalakamam LTTE head Mr.Thirumalai while Mr.C.Kumarakurubaran, one of the directors of the TRO in Trincomalee, lit the traditional oil lamp. TRO's Thampalakamam co-ordinator Mr.Nallasivam handed over a set of teaching equipments to the teacher in charge of the pre-school, sources said. |

| Addressing the gathering later LTTE Trincomalee district political head Mr.Thilak said the TRO has made significant contributions to the education of children and the people of Vanni during the period of war. Since the signing the of the ceasefire agreement it has extended its services to other districts in the Northeast with a view to serve the people who have been severely affected by the war. The success of a service organization solely depends of the active participation and co-operation of the people of the area, and that he is confident that residents of Thampalahamam will work with the TRO for the benefit of the needy, he said. |
