SLA soldier commits suicide at Thenmaradchchi

Mr.P.S.K.Dissanayake, a twenty five year old soldier of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA), Tuesday afternoon committed suicide by exploding a grenade when he was on duty at the forward defence position at Eluthumadduval army camp in Thenmaradchchi in Jaffna district, military sources said.

Preliminary investigation by the Chavakachcheri Police revealed that the deceased had tied a grenade to his waist and triggered explosion.

His upper part of the body was blown off into pieces, medical sources said.

Chavakachcheri magistrate Mr.K.Ariyanayagam visited the scene and inspected the body of the deceased soldier. He ordered the body of the deceased to be sent home in Colombo after autopsy, legal sources said.
