Mounaguruswamy presides the ceremony to award Mahapola scholarships to Batticaloa students and leads a committee looking into the current situation regarding the occupation of public buildings by the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) in Batticaloa district. Mahapola scholarships awards to Batticaloa students District Government Agent E. Mounaguruswamy presided the Mahapola scholarship award ceremony at Arasady Devanayagam Co-operative Society Hall Saturday at 10 am. Deputy Minister of Housing Bazeer Segu Dawood, Eastern University Assistant Dean M.S.Mookaiah and other religious dignitaries participated in the event, sources in Batticaloa said. Committee investigates Public buildings occupied by SLA A special committee led by Government Agent E. Mounaguruswamy is investigating into the occupation of schools, temples, residential houses and public buildings by the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) in Batticaloa district. As the first phase of this investigation the Committee visted the District Secretariat building where the SLA's 233-rd Brigade is currently located. In addition to the GA, the committee includes two members of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, two members from the SLA, two police officers and members of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM).
