The school community of the Mathagal West Nunasai Vidyalayam, which has been displaced since the military operations by the Sri Lanka Armed forces in 1992, has requested the concerned authorities that the school should be re-opened at its original location, sources said.
The school was initially moved to the Manipay memorial English school and a private building in Nunavil, near Chavakachcheri. Currently, the school is operating from the St. Joseph’s college in Mathagal and faces several difficulties. The school community sources said that the demand for reopening the school at its original location has been sent in letters to the Jaffna Government Agent, parliamentarians from the district, the Sandilipay divisional secretariat and the zonal education director in Valikamam.
