SLA allows re-opening of Gurunagar ice factory

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) has agreed for the opening of Gurunagar ice factory when Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Refugees Minister Dr.Jayalath Jayawardene Monday held discussions with Colonel Udawatte of 512 Brigade of the SLA located at Gurunagar in Jaffna district, security sources in Jaffna said.
The SLA first gave permission to his ministry to open the factory in August last year and has now given approval to open it, Minister told Jaffna journalists when he met them Monday at the RRAN (Rehabilitation and Resettlement Authority for North) office, sources said. He said his ministry has already spent three million rupees out six million rupees allocated for the renovation of Gurunagar ice factory. Minister further said he has taken steps to provide vehicles for the official use of Government Agents in LTTE held Vanni region. Already Killinochchi Government Agent has been provided with a vehicle, Minister said. Eight hundred thousand rupees has been allocated to provide electricity supply to Muhamalai and Omanthai check points to open the A9 highway for twenty hours a day for public use, Minister said. His ministry is to implement three micro development projects for the resettled villagers to strengthen earning capacity of the residents, Dr.Jayalath Jayawardene said.
