Tiger ambush kills 7

The Voice of Tigers said this morning that the Liberation Tigers had ambushed an SLA route clearing patrol in Mirusuvil in Thenmaradchi, south east of Jaffna killing seven soldiers and wounding several. One member of the LTTE's ambush team was killed in the fighting said the radio.
The radio also said that the LTTE recovered one Light Machine Gun, 5 assault rifles
and a communications set from the army patrol. The VOT said that the SLA continued fire artillery and mortars on Mankulam. Meanwhile the Liberation Tigers handed over to the ICRC yesterday afternoon the
bodies of two SLA soldiers who were killed on Saturday in the fighting at
Moondumurippu, south west of Mankulam. The bodies were brought to Vavuniya and handed
over to the army by the ICRC. Another body of a soldier who was also killed in the same battle was handed to the
ICRC by the Liberation Tigers on Sunday.
