Sri Lanka's main opposition Peoples Alliance (PA) Friday demanded that the United National Front (UNF) government should present to the parliament and cabinet, UNF's proposals on the Interim Administrative (IA) structure for the northeast, before the proposal is submitted to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), political sources in Colombo said.
The UNF government earlier said that the basic proposal for the interim administrative structure is ready to be sent to the LTTE leadership for their response through Norwegian facilitators. Peoples Alliance spokesman and parliamentarian Dr. Sarath Amunugama addressing a press briefing Friday in Colombo said that the President Ms Chandrika Kumaratunge has already informed the Prime Minister Mr.Ranil
Wickremasinghe the urgent necessity of tabling the proposals on interim administrative structure in parliament and cabinet as a matter of national priority, sources said. Meanwhile, Minister of Justice and the leader of the House
Mr.W.J.M.Lokkubandara said in parliament Friday that interim administrative structure proposals would be tabled in parliament once it is finalized. The Prime Minister has already informed this decision of the Sri Lanka UNF Government to Ms Kumaratunge at the last cabinet meeting, sources said.
