Thamilchelvan opens TRO's computer centre in Chenaiyoor

[TamilNet, Sunday, 03 August 2003, 04:20 GMT]
Mr.S.P.Thamilchelvan, the political head of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, on Saturday evening declared open a Computer Training Centre at Chenaiyoor in Muttur east established by the Trincomalee district Tamils’ Rehabilitation Organization under the sponsorship of its Canadian branch, TRO sources said.

Addressing the gathering at the event, Mr. Thamilchelvan said, that in the past, Tamil leaders had fought to regain the Tamil people’s lost rights and land. “But those Tamil leaders fought unsuccessfully against the Sinhala-dominated Sri Lankan governments in power then."

"The agreements and accords signed by those Tamil leaders were torn into pieces and thrown into the dustbin by the successive governments. The Sinhalese leaders in power those days used negotiations and agreements signed with Tamil leaders to enhance their political, military and other powers in the country,” said Mr. Thamilchelvan.

"You all know the situation today. A new chapter has been written in the annals of Tamils' history in the country The Sinhala nation has now been subjected to pressure by the international community and with the facilitation of the international monitors,” Mr. Thamilchelvan said, “ it has signed a ceasefire agreement with the LTTE, accepting the LTTE as the sole representative of the Tamils in the country because of the strength it maintains on the ground.” "Our national leader has brought a revolutionary change in the lives of Tamils in the country who have been subjected to oppression. We have brought about this change by sacrificing more than 17 000 Tamil youths in the freedom struggle. Our leader has been successful through his armed liberation struggle to safeguard Tamils from being eliminated by State suppression," said the LTTE political leader.

”Tamils in the country live with self-respect today because of our leader's vision,” added Mr.Thamilchelvan.

Parliamentarian Mr.K.Thurairetnasingham and TRO Trincomalee district co-ordinator Mr.K.Mathavarajah also spoke. TRO's Muttur co-ordinator Mr.S. Gopal presided.

At the commencement of the event, the LTTE’s Trincomalee district political head Mr.Thilak hoisted the Thamileelam national flag. LTTE Trincomalee district commander Colonel Pathuman unveiled the name board of the Computer Training Centre. Mr. Thamilchelvan declared open the centre by cutting the ribbon.

TNA parliamentarian Mr.K.Thurairetnasingham, Trincomalee District NGOs Consortium President Mr.T.Thavasilingam lighted the traditional oil lamp. Mr. Gopal made the welcome address and finally vote of thanks, sources said.
