Resettled villager injured in bomb explosion

Mr.Kanthan Kandasamy (46), head of a resettled family at Chunnakam in Valigamam north in the Jaffna district, was grievously injured, resulting in the loss of both legs below the knees, when a bomb that had been buried in his land exploded Thursday morning while he was sinking a well in his land, police said.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the bomb buried in the land exploded as the injured was excavating sand from the site using mammoty to construct a well for domestic use, Police said. The injured was immediately admitted at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital and hospital sources said that despite the grievous nature of his injuries, he was reported to be out danger.
