JVP anti-peace Foot March from Galle to Colombo

The four-day "Foot March " (Pada Yatra) by the Sinhala nationalist cum Marxist Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) will commence Monday from Galle, deep south of the country, Monday in protest to the present peace initiative
of the United National Front (UNF) government. The protest march is organized to highlight the danger to the territorial integrety of Sri Lanka, and to safeguard the country from the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and the
foreign imperialists, JVP sources said.
The JVP says that under the pretext of the present peace process the UNF
government is trying to hand over the northeast to the Liberation Tigers of
Tamil Eelam and the south to the foreign imperialists, sources said. The protest march, which is to commence from Galle Monday, around
seven in the morning will arrive Ambalangoda town the same day evening. The march will
will resume from Ambalangoda Tuesday morning and arrive at Aluthgama the
same day evening. On the third day Wednesday the foot march will start from
Aluthgama and will reach Panadura. The final day Foot March would start Thursday
morning from Panadura and will reach Colombo Lipton's Square the same day
evening. This will be followed by a rally, JVP sources said. Until the present UNF government is ousted from power our protest marches
and demonstrations will continue in various parts of the country, said JVP
propaganda secretary and parliamentarian Mr.Wimal Weerawanse. The next Foot March will be held in Kandy, capital of the central province,
Mr.Weerawanse said.
