Northeast Literary Day to be held in Vavuniya

A decision to hold the Northeast Literary Day on October 9,10,11 in Vavuniya was made at a meeting held at the Vavuniya Secretariat on Wednesday, chaired by Mr. S. Thiagalingam, the Northeast Provincial Education Ministry’s Secretary, sources in Vavuniya said.

The Vavuniya Government Agent, Mr.K. Ganesh, Provincial Cultural affairs director, Mr. C.A.Mohanraj, deputy director, Mrs. Sridevi, the divisional secretaries of Vavuniya, Chettikulam and Nedunkerny, the Zonal education directors for Vavuniya North and South, the Vavuniya Town Council Chairman, Mr. V.S.Selvarajah, many literary figures, artists and prominent members of the public from the Vavuniya district participated at the meeting to plan the Literary Day.

The Literary Day event will be held at the Irampaikulam Girls' School arts theatre, with a research forum on the morning and an arts program in the evening, the sources said, and added that 6 committees have been appointed to make arrangements for the event.
