China, Russia, India join USA in upholding Agent State in Colombo

[TamilNet, Thursday, 01 October 2015, 17:46 GMT]
The UN Human Rights Council on Thursday unanimously adopted the resolution on ‘Sri Lanka’ produced by the USA-led core group consisting 4 UNHRC Member States without any vote. The resolution was co-sponsored by the SL State and was titled ‘Promoting reconciliation, accountability and human rights in Sri Lanka’. Before its adoption without a vote, the resolution had received the support of additional 25 co-sponsors. China, speaking before the adoption of the resolution, extended its support on the basis that ‘Sri Lanka’ had agreed to the resolution which was drafted in consultation. Giving an explanation of the vote after the vote, India said that the consensus resolution underlined the collective desire of the ‘Sri Lankans’ for change, reconciliation and unity and the rejection of extremist voices.

“We reiterate our firm belief that a meaningful devolution of political authority through the 13th Amendment of the constitution of Sri Lanka and building upon it, would greatly help the process of national reconciliation in Sri Lanka,” the Indian representative further stated after the adoption procedure was over.

The representative of genocidal Sri Lanka was promising ‘wide ranging consultations’ to ‘expand the ownership of the content of the resolution to all its stakeholders’ before the adoption of the resolution.

Giving explanations of the vote before the vote, the representative of South Africa said his country would be sharing its experiences on finding a lasting political solution and to develop an ‘organic model’ for truth telling, justice and reconciliation with the government of Sri Lanka in a ‘non-prescriptive’ manner.

“The Tamil diaspora remains an important constituency and its support is critical in fostering a real and meaningful dialogue,” the South African representative said. South Africa has been criticised earlier for attempting to facilitate the genocidal State of Sri Lanka to counter the internationalisation of the national question of Eezham Tamils.

Venezuela and Ghana, originally scheduled to speak on Wednesday were not found in the room when they were called upon. However, on Thursday, only Ghana's representative addressed the Council before the vote, either sarcastically or in abstract briefing the realities, but supporting the resolution.

Venezuela, suspecting the struggle of Eezham Tamils as serving the interests of the CIA, supported the Colombo regime in 2010, succumbing to the campaign of the so-called Marxists in Rajapaksa's diplomatic corps.

Contrary to the paranoia of the same so-called Marxists that the present pro-US regime in Colombo has isolated the State from its ‘traditional allies’, China and Russia have voted in favour of the US resolution.

Tamil survivors of the genocidal onslaught, politicians, political and civil activists from the homeland, the diaspora and from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, addressed the Council earlier on Thursday and on Wednesday through NGO slots. The Tamil representatives were stressing on the need for independent international investigations on genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes.
