Kinniya displaced face food shortage

Hundreds of Tamil families displaced from villages Alankerni, Eechantivu and Upparu in Kinniya division are still languishing in refugee centres without enough essential food items as they are unable to go to Kinniya town to buy their provisions. The co-operative outlet in Alankerni has been closed down due to threat by Muslim groups in the Kinniya area, non-governmental sources said.

Inquiry into Vadamarachchy SLA assaults begins

Eluvaithivu survives in the grip of Sri Lanka’s Navy

Army-students clash averted in Jaffna

Work on new Sellasannithi chariot begins

The first piece of wood for building the new chariot (Ther) for the historic Thondamanaru Sellasannithi Murugan Temple in Jaffna was carved and consecrated Wednesday morning according to Tamil religious rites at the Bambalapitya Manikkapillaiyar Kovil in Colombo. The temple’s intricately carved wooden chariot was destroyed when Sri Lanka army soldiers allegedly set fire to it during a military operation in the area on 21April 1986. The temple building was also destroyed by the SLA in 1987 during ‘Operation Liberation’ to take the Vadamaradchi Division of Jaffna.

Most landmine accidents in Jaffna – UN group

LTTE cadre strangled to death in Trincomalee

The Centre for Policy Alternatives (CPA) is organizing a one-day seminar on Friday, November 7, on the Interim Self Governing Authority (ISGA) proposed by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) for the Tamil dominated NorthEast province. SU demands Colombo to abandon peace process

SLA tests Jaffna army drivers on traffic law

Committee to regulate sand excavation in Vadamaradchi

Civil organizations in Vadamaradchi east division in the Jaffna district have lifted the nearly one month old ban on removing sand from Manalkadu and other villages in the division for construction works in the peninsula. Civilian injured in SLA vehicle collision in Jaffna

S.Vijayaratnam of Nachchimar Kovilady in Jaffna, was seriously injured in an accident in which a truck of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) and a motor bicycle collided Saturday morning at the Kankesanthurai road junction in Jaffna town. The injured civilian was riding the motorcycle at that time, and was admitted to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital by a group of residents of the area, police said.

Tigers release proposal for Interim Self Governing Authority

The Interim Self Governing Authority (ISGA) proposed by the Liberation Tigers will have plenary power for the governance of the northeast, including powers in relation to resettlement , rehabilitation, reconstruction and development, raising revenue, law and order, and over land, according to the LTTE document released on Saturday. The ISGA will continue until a final settlement to Sri Lanka's ethnic conflict is reached and implemented, according to the document.
