CWDR celebrates second year of women’s training

LTTE appoints new political heads for Trinco, Vavuniya

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam has made changes in its district administrative structure in the Trincomalee and Vavuniya districts. Mr.S.Thilak, currently the Trincomalee district political head, has been transferred to Kilinochchi, and Mr.S. Elilan, the current Vavuniya district political head, will be the new political head in Trincomalee, LTTE sources in Trincomalee said.

LTTE ready to resume talks based on ISGA- Thamilchelvan

0Ambassador for Norway in Colombo, Mr. Hans Brattskar, Norway's special peace envoy, Mr. Eric Solheim, and Second Secretary of the Norwegian Embassy in Colombo, Ms. Kjersti Thomsdal, met with Mr. S. P. Thamilchelvan, Head of the LTTE Political Wing at the LTTE Peace Secretariat in Kilinochchi. The talks, started at 10.45 a.m. lasted for more than two hours and focused on the resumption of stalled peace talks and about preparing the agenda for the talks between the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and the Government of Sri Lanka (GoSL), sources in Vanni said.

Norwegian facilitators meet Sri Lanka's President

Vanni Development Directors head to Philipines for training

3 SLA soldiers charged in December shooting incident

Norwegian peace delegation arrives in Colombo

P Thamilchelvan, the head of the LTTE’ political division, said Thursday that the Tigers would state their stand on for resuming the island’s stalled peace process only after Norwegians peace facilitators first find out and apprise them of Colombo’s position regarding the basis for restarting negotiations. He was speaking to the local press after meeting head of Sri Lanka’s truce monitoring mission, Maj. Gen. (ret) Trond Furuhovde in Kilinochchi.

UNHCR IG calls for renewed focus on Sri Lanka's IDPs

Workshop on HIV/AIDS for Trinco media persons

LTTE to await official word from Norway on peace process

The Liberation Tigers will inform their stand on resuming the peace process if the Norwegian government officially informs the LTTE about the Sri Lankan government's stand, Mr. Daya Master, the media coordinator of the LTTE, told the Tamil media on Saturday. Meanwhile, sources quoting the Norwegian Embassy in Colombo say a high level delegation of the Norwegian government will visit Colombo in the first week of May to hold discussions with the Government of Sri Lanka and the LTTE.

Col. Thambirajah Ramesh, the Special Commander for the Batticaloa-Amparai District, led the LTTE delegation. Head of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission, Maj. Gen. (ret) Tronde Furuhovde chaired the meeting. Asked whether the issue of renegade LTTE commander Karuna’s whereabouts was raised at the meeting, Col. Ramesh and Maj. Gen. (ret) Furuhovde replied in the negative.
