Enslaved Tamil fighters forced to sing ‘Sri Lanka’ anthem in Sinhala

[TamilNet, Friday, 05 February 2016, 18:06 GMT]
0Forcing Eezham Tamil school girls to parade at a military event on the so-called ‘Independence Day’ and bringing a section of enslaved former LTTE members from the so-called ‘Civil Security Division’ (CSD) to sing ‘Sri Lanka’ anthem in Sinhala, the occupying Sinhala military was engaged in an act of humiliating Eezham Tamils at Poonakari in Ki'linochchi district on Thursday. Just a look at the faces of the enslaved Tamils and occupying Sinhalese would tell the reality. No explanation is needed to those who are familiar with the world history of occupations and genocide. A video recording of the event, which has been recorded and distributed through social media on the Internet, is being reproduced by TamilNet for the purpose of historical record. The video is a must to be seen by all.

Tamils and World War III

[TamilNet, Saturday, 23 January 2016, 00:24 GMT]
The world imperceptibly enters into World War III. This is a war different in many ways from the previous two. It is not fought among powers, but fought against peoples all over the world. Tamils are one of the targeted peoples. If agencies are hurriedly deployed from all quarters, to concentrate solely on one point, i.e., to detract and contain the national question of Eezham Tamils, that is to consolidate the Colombo-centric genocidal system in order to use it and its military in an impending larger war or in entry into the region. The message should go clearly from global mobilisation of Tamils, irrespective of Tamil Nadu or Eezham origins that they look at the question of Eezham Tamils as a test case in considering world orders coming from the West or East.

Diaspora network urges TPC to consolidate fundamentals, course-correct main polilty

[TamilNet, Monday, 18 January 2016, 18:44 GMT]
0A group of like-minded diaspora youth activists and writers on Monday issued a document detailing 15 key issues, which they wanted the Tamil People's Council (TPC) in the homeland to clarify without ambiguity in consolidating the definitions, descriptions and attitudinal fundamentals of the Tamil cause during their present exercise of formulating a political framework on behalf of Eezham Tamils. While expecting the TPC to explore a model of confederalism, in which Eelam Tamils could exercise control over defined internal and external affairs, a proper negotiation required mediation by a third party at a global level. Various Empires, external States and the United Nations have been responsible for the injustices against Eezham Tamils in the past. The Global Community therefore needs greater awareness on the situation of Tamils in the island, the group said.

None among political prisoners are real convicts, says released Tamil prisoner

[TamilNet, Sunday, 17 January 2016, 23:25 GMT]
36-year-old Tamil political prisoner Jeneevan Sivarasa, who was released after being ‘pardoned’ by SL President Maithiripala Sirisena on January 08 told TamilNet that almost none of the 230 Tamil prisoners currently languishing inside the prisons of Colombo had command responsibilities or even contributed to the ‘crimes’ they had been accused of. Most of those detained for decades and those given prison terms beyond the scope of their lifetimes were all innocent people like A.G. Perarivalan of Tamil Nadu who had no knowledge that the battery he was buying was to be used in an assassination. The act of continued imprisonment of these people itself constitutes a crime against humanity, Jeneevan Sivarasa told TamilNet in a video interview this week.

Theravada Buddhism worse than Brahmanism in language replacement

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 25 November 2015, 23:54 GMT]
Pali-based Theravada Buddhism, especially its Sinhala version, is historically worse than Sanskritic Brahmanism in language replacement and denial of linguistic rights of peoples in their religious pursuits. Tamils in their long civilization have seen all the religions through their language, and from time to time have been rebelling against all kinds of oppression coming through them. In this respect the atheist Dravidian movement set an example to entire South Asia and the Tamil militant struggle upheld the legacy. Tamils will come out with fitting answer to genocide coming through religion and to the international paradigms harping on religions in the game for world monopoly, commented Tamil activists for alternative politics responding to the Nayinaa-theevu question.

Hunger strike exposed non-seriousness of US Resolution: Prof Ramasamy

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 18 November 2015, 09:10 GMT]
Professor P RamasamySince the prisoners’ plight has not been seriously addressed, many are wondering how the present Sri Lankan government would be able to address and punish those responsible for crimes against humanity, said Deputy Chief Minister of Penang state in Malaysia, Professor P. Ramasamy, in an article to TamilNet on Wednesday, announcing the intentions of a forthcoming international forum being organised on Saturday in Penang. “It is indeed ironic, that President Sirisena who promised truth, justice and reconciliation for Tamils, has failed to address the serious human rights plight of Tamils in the country,” he said. The conference comes at a time the prisoners in the island have placed the furtherance of their cause at the hands of the global Tamils and the Northern Provincial Council. The forum will be officiated by Chief Minister of Penang Lim Guan Eng.

Tamil genocide continues, Sirisena shows no desire for change, says Grant

[TamilNet, Sunday, 15 November 2015, 22:04 GMT]
0Australian journalist and an advocate for Tamils rights, Trevor Grant, who has also written widely on the Sri Lankan State's genocide against Eezham Tamils and on the complicity of the Western governments in the genocide, in an interview with TamilNet this week opined that the Sirisena government's policies on critical Tamil issues are substantively not different from those of the predecessor Rajapakse government. Commenting on the recent prisoner issue where Tamil prisoners in several jails have resumed hunger strike after Sirisena failed to release the prisoners on Nov 7th as promised, Grant said that "if there was a genuine desire for change [in Srisena government], all prisoners would have been released within days of the election result in January." Grant added that Tamil Naadu has the capacity to turn India as a force supporting the cause of Eelam Tamils.

South Africa to Singapore: global Tamils grasping geopolitics to act

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 11 November 2015, 06:42 GMT]
0The powers of today have set their nodal points of global contention from the West to China. Whether it was landward, as visualised in Putin’s Eurasia talk at the UN, or seaward, as the traditional option left to the West, it is called the ‘Silk Route’ in their silk-coated language. The nodal points don’t care about the fundamental questions of the peoples in between, other than the question that which of the point overtakes or pre-empts the other. If the Islamic world in between is one example, Tamils without State in the sector between South Africa and Singapore is a worse example. The Eezham Tamils were particularly deceived in a similar situation before under the British, and now global Tamils have to grasp and set the bearings correct.

SL Navy continues to occupy church lands in Peasaalai, Mannaar

[TamilNet, Thursday, 05 November 2015, 22:16 GMT]
The occupying Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) in Mannaar has transformed illegally seized lands belonging to one of the largest churches in the island, into military-owned property during the regime of Maithiripala Sirisena. The SL Navy which occupied the lands in 2006 after carrying out a genocidal attack on the church killing a woman and injuring more than 44 by lobbing grenades on people who had sought asylum at the church, was telling the Parish Priest Fr. Vincent Patrick at that time the SLN was going to be stationed for a while as a temporary measure and that the lands would be handed back to the church. The lands seized for the camp were 3,000 square meters in 2006. But, later the SLN base was expanded to 8,000 square meters and now under Maithiripala Sirisene's regime, the occupation has been further expanded to 14,000 square meters.

Tamil leadership need not shy away or react to unfair challenge coming from Sumanthiran

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 04 November 2015, 03:34 GMT]
The Eezham Tamil leadership should positively consider seeking pardon from the Tamil-speaking Muslims, explaining the dynamics, going back to the root of the evil lying in the mentality of the sections of elite of all sides in upholding the colonially created Colombo-centric genocidal State in the island and its patrons outside, commented Tamil activists for alternative politics in the island. The Muslim grievances, as often highlighted by them, do not begin from the LTTE eviction of Muslims from Jaffna. They start from Sir. P. Ramanathan, lawyering and achieving impunity for the Colombo-centric Sinhala leadership’s crimes against Muslims in the Puththa'lam pogrom of 1915. The dynamics of Colombo, now added with international partners in deploying ‘lawyers’ to seek impunity continues to this day, the activists said.

Tamil Nadu fishermen complain of intentional assault by SL Navy

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 28 October 2015, 07:36 GMT]
The navy of genocidal Sri Lanka has brutally assaulted 11 fishermen from Tamil Nadu State after intruding into Indian waters and chasing them in 6 naval vessels in the early hours of Tuesday, according to 11 fishermen from Rameasvaram (Rameswaram), who were brought to Mannaar Courts on Tuesday. The fishermen talking to media at Mannaar Court complex said they were subjected to torture by the SL Navy. The fishermen were fishing in the Indian waters in 60 small boats, they claimed.

Denial of genocide ‘even-handed’ for EPW writer

[TamilNet, Saturday, 24 October 2015, 23:24 GMT]
Denial of genocide and genocide intent in the long war and on-going structural war in the island, amounts to saying in other words that the war was fought only on the issue of ‘international terrorism’ as the USA and its bandwagon were saying earlier in directing the course of the war. The denial and refusal to even consider investigation on genocidal intent are nothing but completely airbrushing the ethnonational dimensions of the war and even the pogroms preceded that. It is no less a lie than the Rajapaksa lie of ‘zero casualty’ of civilians in the war. But when the fundamental twist comes from the OISL report submitted to the UNHRC that doesn’t recognize even the word Tamil, it becomes consistently ‘even-handed’ for an EPW writer, commented Tamil activists for alternative politics in the island.
