Unrest in Tamil Nadu following Colombo’s death sentence to 5 fishermen

[TamilNet, Friday, 31 October 2014, 18:15 GMT]
0As Hindutva New Delhi’s partnership with genocidal Sri Lanka gathers momentum and reaches a stage of jointly aiming intimidation and destabilisation of Tamil Nadu, Colombo’s high court on Thursday delivered death sentence to five Tamil Nadu fishermen arrested in 2011 on charges of smuggling drugs, political observers in Chennai said. Following the sentence, widespread protests engulf Tamil Nadu, where Tamil fishermen face decades-long arrests, attacks, loss of property and death in the hands of the Navy of genocidal Sri Lanka. While death sentence itself is universally controversial, the government, law-enforcement agencies and judiciary in the genocidal State themselves don’t have any credibility at all, the observers further said.

1,200 Sinhala families encroached into Batticaloa-Ampaa’rai border

[TamilNet, Sunday, 28 September 2014, 21:36 GMT]
Since 2011, more than 1,200 Sinhala families have been brought into the Batticaloa district within the bordering areas of Ampaa’rai district, say Tamil National Alliance (TNA) politicians who have taken a fact-finding mission to Mayilantha-madu and Periya-maathava’nai on Friday. Thousands of acres of grazing lands allocated for farmers from Batticaloa have been seized by the occupying Sri Lankan military and its so-called ‘homeguards’ paramilitary. The Sinhala colonists are doing agriculture in the occupied lands.

Political fundamentals cannot be surrendered to military requisites of imperialism

[TamilNet, Saturday, 30 August 2014, 15:33 GMT]
Five years of actual ground experience of Eezham Tamils since the Vanni War ending in genocide, is nothing but the thorough and accelerated militarisation of their land by the Sinhala military, carried out with active patronage coming from New Delhi, Washington and Beijing. Militarisation of this nature, that too by a historically proven genocidal State and by its military, is perhaps the most important reason, why the military-less nation of Eezham Tamils can’t expect any political solution working within a united island and that they should seek independence. Eezham Tamil individuals and forums in the diaspora hijacked by imperialisms of militaristic interest should think twice before telling that Tamils have given up the claim for their country.

Sinhala-Military show in Nalloor alienates Tamils in religion

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 27 August 2014, 06:40 GMT]
0An astonishing number of Sinhala Army soldiers in traditional Tamil devotional dress were paraded on the last day of Nalloor temple festival in Jaffna, in a newly found ‘devotion’. The show aimed at subtly ridiculing Eezham Tamils of their religion, intimidating them psychologically and sending them a message that the occupying Sinhala military would even take away the religion from them, news sources in Jaffna said on Wednesday. In various numbers, the Sinhala military has been occupying Jaffna for several decades. But, the newly discovered ‘devotion’ for Murukan has become another weapon of structural genocide to go along with the thousands of houses that are now being built for the occupying Sinhala military personnel and their families, the sources further said.

More than 25,000 acres of lands belonging to Eezham Tamils have been seized through Sinhala militarisation in the three DS divisions of 11 DS areas of Trincomalee district, informed civil sources told TamilNet on Friday. The occupation has been going on through the last 6 years. Now, the Colombo government has blocked water supplies to Eezham Tamils at Maavilaa’ru, diverting the water to the occupied lands where Sinhalese are deployed by the military to do agriculture in Moothoor division.

The Tamil Civil Society Forum has handed over an appeal to Pope Francis on Sunday through Vatican's diplomatic representative to the island, urging the Pope to openly call upon Colmbo Government to stop militarising and colonizing Tamil lands, to restore the troop presence in the North and East to pre-war levels, end violence against women, honestly address the problems of the disappeared and the abducted including Rev. Tamils are subjected to two-pronged attacks in Ampaa’rai: Trade union leader

[TamilNet, Saturday, 05 July 2014, 23:27 GMT]
While an occupying military is appropriating lands of Eezham Tamils in Ampaa’rai district in favour of an ethnic group, another group is buying lands deploying large sums of money with the backing of ministers in the ruling alliance. Eezham Tamils are also side-lined in the public sector employment, said All Ceylon Workers Association leader S. Loganathan on Saturday. The conduct of certain ministers aligned with the ruling Colombo government is sabotaging the emerging understanding between the Tamils and Muslims, he said.

Art, literature, should enlighten masses on larger forces at work

[TamilNet, Monday, 09 June 2014, 23:29 GMT]
0When the last king of Kandy in the island of Ceylon, who belonged to the Telugu-speaking Nayaka dynasty of Madurai in Tamil Nadu, was conquered and captured by British imperialism in 1815, history, literature and plays written on him by both Sinhalese and Tamils in the island were focussing only on a historically still unproven point that he killed the children of the Sinhala chieftain Ehelapola who joined the British and made the chieftain’s wife to pound the heads of the children in a mortar. That was the highlight of all the plays on the king, performed to this date. None of the writers or playwrights saw the ultimate culprits or the larger dimensions of the onset of colonialism. That was the success of British colonialism.

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 29 April 2014, 05:33 GMT]
The occupying SL military in Madu division of Mannaar district entered the schools at Valaiyan-kaddu and Kaakkaiyan-ku’lam and took photographs of the students, teachers and the principals interrupting the studies. Schoolteachers in Madu division told TamilNet that the SL military was behaving as if the Tamil students and teachers were in a prison the genocidal Sri Lankan State. The latest conduct of the SL military shows how the situation of threat on Tamil students and teachers has worsened from the earlier situation, said Mr Joseph Stalin, the general secretary of Ilangkai Thamizh Teachers Union. The entire education system in the Northern province is being militarised by the Sri Lankan government, he said.
