Civilian shot dead in Veala'nai, Jaffna

Two unidentified armed men on motor cycle shot dead a civilian at point blank range Monday around 11:00 a.m in Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) controlled Veala'nai islet of Jaffna. The recent Claymore attack in Veala'nai, injuring two men, alleged to be government troops or paramilitary men, may be the cause of this killing, residents in Vela'nai said.

Chunnaakam, Point-Pedro victims identified

2 SLAF troops injured in Vavuniyaa

Unidentified persons triggered a claymore device Monday morning at Chaa'lampaiku'lam area along Vavuniyaa-Mannar road seriously injuring two Sri Lanka Air Force troops in a Buffel Armoured Personnel Carrier, on their way to Vavuniyaa from SLAF Poovaransangku'lam base. A civilian riding bicycle along the road sustained injuries.

Local and international activists, UN agencies and other humanitarian agencies discussed the present ground situation in Sri Lanka and explored ways to alleviate the suffering of the civilian population.

75 civilians arrested in Kotte, Gampaha
