Red Cross confirms Puthukkudiyiruppu massacre

Two mothers claim wounded Tiger

Two women in Batticaloa are claiming that an ex-militant whose memory has been affected by shrapnel lodged in his cranium is their son. The case was brought up yesterday by the two women at the office of the Tamil Eelam Liberation Organisation (TELO), a paramilitary group operating with the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) and the Special Task Force (STF) in Batticaloa. Both produced certificates of birth for the youth to claim him as their son.

Grenades lobbed at office of Jaffna daily

Two grenades were lobbed at the office of the only Tamil daily in Jaffna, the Uthayan, this evening around 8.30 p.m. A security guard , S.Selvarajah, was wounded and two cars parked in the shed behind the office were damaged by the explosion, the paper's assistant general manager Nadesapillai Vithiyatharan told TamilNet.
