9 SLA bodies exchanged through ICRC

An International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) official confirmed that around 4.00 p.m. today the bodies of 9 soldiers, killed in the latest fighting near Ampakamam, were handed over to Sri Lankan army officials in Vavuniya by representatives of the ICRC. The ICRC received the bodies from the Liberation Tigers at Mallavi, earlier today, the official added.

Batticaloa villages shelled

The Sri Lanka Army (SLA) fired mortars from its Valaichenai Paper Mill camp and Harbour View Camp in the Batticaloa district this morning from 2.00 a.m. till 5.00 a.m. said sources in the eastern district. The villages of Kannakikiramam, Kinnaiyadi and Pendukalsenai were hit by the SLA shelling, said the sources.

SLA deserter Surrenders
