[TamilNet, Thursday, 28 April 2016, 05:27 GMT]
0The occupying Sinhala military is deployed round-the-clock to construct the controversial Buddhist temple-centric establishment, conceived as a tool for Sinhalicisation of the strategic coastal stretch at Kokku'laay, which links Northern and Eastern provinces of the country of Eezham Tamils. The construction is proceeding despite repeated requests to find an alternative place from Northern Provincial Council Chief Minister Justice C.V. Wigneswaran and despite instructions from Mullaiththeevu District Secretariat to halt the construction till the dispute of private land, which has been occupied by the Sinhala extremist monk, is resolved. On Sunday, Ven Sri Thissapura Gunarathna Thero, the extremist monk was demonstrating his vow to continue with the construction when he spotted Tamil journalists taking video of the resumed construction work from a distance.

Colombo's structural genocide targets Tamil village at Mahaweli delta in Trincomalee

[TamilNet, Monday, 18 April 2016, 22:28 GMT]
0The current regime of Maithiripala Sirisena, who has been the minister of ‘Mahaweli scheme’ for several years now, is silently spearheading the occupation of thousands of acres of farmlands, both in the name of ‘development’ and through illegal settlements in Trincoamlee. The focal point of Sinhalicisation and militarisation during the former regime of Mahinda Rajapaksa was coastal Trincomalee, particularly the Champoor area in Moorthoor division. But, the regime of present ‘Mahaweli’ genocidaire has shifted the focus to larger plains of farmlands, 18 km south of Moothooor. The Tamil farmers from the ancient village of Kangkuveali recently narrated how they experience the structural genocide in a video interview to TamilNet. If the SL State and those who back it don't put an end to the structural genocide, another war would be inevitable, they warn.

Tamil women complain increase of ethnic sexual harassment in public sector

[TamilNet, Sunday, 17 April 2016, 19:57 GMT]
The successive regimes based in Colombo, unchecked by the absence of the political balance of power from the side of Eezham Tamils, have engineered the structural administration of public sector, by bringing in Sinhala males from South into leadership positions in the East. Tamil women employed in the public sector are being subjected to sexual harassments at working places. Also in the cases where Tamil-speaking males harass the female workers, Tamil women experience increased difficulties in taking forward the complaints to the Sinhala-dominated hierarchy in the public sector, feminist rights activists in Batticaloa told TamilNet.

In the meantime, the political prisoners, who met the delegation from Mannaar told TamilNet over the phone that they had urged the visiting NPC councillor to impress upon the Chief Minister of the NPC and other councillors to also address the plight of Tamil political prisoners with Up-Country Tamil origin languishing in Anuradhapura prison.

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 12 April 2016, 23:04 GMT]
0More than 40 Tamil Village (GS) officers in Vanni staged a protest on Monday in front of the District Secretariat of Mullaiththeevu condemning the occupying Sinhala military for assaulting the GS officer of Kokkuth-thoduvaay Mr Jeevaratnam Jesuratnam on Sunday, when he went to inspect the illegal occupation by Sinhala fishermen, who have been brought from South by the occupying military of genocidal Sri Lanka. The violent Sinhala military officers had also seized the identity documents from the Tamil GS officer. Southern extremist groups influence Sinhala students at universities in North-East

[TamilNet, Monday, 11 April 2016, 22:43 GMT]
Tamil academics attached to the Universities of Jaffna and at the Eastern University say they are worried about Sinhala extremist elements from South continuously influencing the Sinhala students at these universities. There is ethnic motivated patterns of suppressive and exclusivist tendency at the universities, especially among the Sinhala students who have a ‘good rapport’ with the occupying Sinhala military and police. However, the university administrations are reluctant to address the challenge at an early stage. They intentionally avoid making complaints about racially motivated crimes taking place within the university premises, the academic sources said. The violence that shocked the Trincomalee campus in March took place as the Eastern University administration maintained its reluctance for a long time despite repeated complaints from the Tamil students.

Colombo continues to sabotage investigations on Mannaar killing fields

[TamilNet, Saturday, 09 April 2016, 23:13 GMT]
A Consultant Judicial Medical Officer, who was to be present at the exhumation of the alleged mass grave site at Thirukkeatheesvaram, Maanthai, failed to attend Mannaar Magistrates Court and the site of alleged mass grave when all others, including the Judge and the experts from 12 other institutions, were prepared to commence the excavation. The explanation given to the Judge was that the consultant JMO was attending a conference and that the exhumation was to be cancelled without his presence. The Judge, after a lengthy meeting has fixed a new hearing on 29 April. Similarly, the CID from Colombo was seeking more time, once again, to receive a proper response from one of the three Latin American institutions that were to be approached to conduct forensic anthropological analysis on the already exhumed human skeletons from the killing fields of Mannaar.

New Delhi approach to apartheid South Africa should open eyes of global Tamils

[TamilNet, Thursday, 07 April 2016, 00:05 GMT]
0A secret document of 1949, recently unearthed from South African diplomatic archives, shows that contrary to India’s outward show of opposition to apartheid, the actual thinking in New Delhi diplomacy was prepared to make secret elitist deals with apartheid South Africa, scapegoating its own people who had gone as victims of colonial labour as ‘not of the best type’ of Indians. A large part of such labour migrants from Guyana to Fiji were Tamils. It was such outlook of New Delhi that made it to go for ‘elite to elite’ deal with Sinhala-Buddhist Colombo in endorsing the disenfranchisement of the upcountry Tamils in Ceylon. Later the attitude was extended for New Delhi to become a crucial partner in the genocide cum continued genocide of Eezham Tamils having their own historical country in the island. Now there is the ‘military to military’ relationship for corporate elite pally-pally.

SLN intimidates Tamils to give consent for controversial Buddha statue in Jaffna islet

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 05 April 2016, 15:15 GMT]
Two elected members of the Northern Provincial Council (NPC), who were on a fact finding visit to Naiyinaatheevu last Thursday following repeated requests from the native people of the islet off Jaffna told TamilNet this week that they were shocked to see the move for accelerated Sinhalicisation and Buddhicisation being undertaken by the occupying Sinhala Navy and Ven Navadagala Paduma Kiththi Tissa Thero, the chief monk of ‘Nagadeepa Rajamaha Vihara’. The native people are afraid to voice against the cultural and demographic genocide taking place. The SL Navy has been exerting pressure on them to ‘admit’ that they were ‘welcoming’ the plans for erecting a controversial 61-feet Buddha statue along the seashore. The move is a clear exclusivist Sinhala-Buddhist engineering, says NPC Councillor Vinthan Kanagaratnam.

Indian intelligence, media insinuate Eezham Tamils to drop ‘Eelam’ in party names

[TamilNet, Friday, 01 April 2016, 16:52 GMT]
The Eelam People’s Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF), led by Mr Suresh Premachandran, has denounced on Friday a narration given by the Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) that one of the oldest parties of early Tamil militant legacy was dropping the terms ‘Eelam’ and ‘Liberation’ in its party name. The claimed name change is actually being contemplated by a small group, the EPRLF ‘Padmanaba wing’, which is neither part of the TNA nor has any electoral standing. This group is led by former North-Eastern Provincial Council Chief Minister Mr Varatharaja Perumal, who is widely seen as an agent of Indian Intelligence. In 2009, immediately after the Vanni genocide, the then Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK Chief Mr M. Karunanidhi also gave instructions to remove the word Eezham in public places. Mr Karunanidhi reportedly has said that it was the wish of the ‘Central agencies’ of India.

Nelson’s Eye in New Delhi academic thinking

[TamilNet, Thursday, 31 March 2016, 09:51 GMT]
Professor Romila Thapar“Do we have to endorse the identities that British colonialism imposed on us? Can we not instead question these identities and consider alternatives. The continuation of such identities is inherently anti-democratic. They were meant for a colony not for a free democracy,” says Professor Romila Thapar, in an article “Religion-based Nationalism is back in Full Force” that appeared on Tuesday. The very same comment could be made on New Delhi academic preceptors of the so-called progressive forces in India and their followers inside and outside of India endorsing the identity of genocidal Sri Lankan State, for the continuation of a model meant for imperialism, responded Tamil activists for alternative politics in the island.

Colombo systematically discriminates uprooted Tamils in Ampaa'rai: EPC Councillor

[TamilNet, Sunday, 27 March 2016, 23:24 GMT]
While the current regime of genocidal Sri Lanka is engaged in propaganda activities through donating houses to sections of Eezham Tamils to showcase its ‘one-way reconciliation’, especially through media involving journalists from South, the majority of uprooted Tamils are being systematically kept away from resettling in their villages, accused T. Kalaiyarasan, an elected member of the Eastern Provincial Council, on Sunday. The Tamil families who resettled on their own effort in are being systematically harassed in Ampaa'rai. Not a single journalist from South has ever exposed this systemic neglect, the EPC Councillor said. Colombo government's Archaeology Department, Forest Department and Wildlife Departments are working closely with Buddhist monks and the occupying Sinhala military to keep the Tamils away from their traditional villages in Ampaa'rai district, he said.

East Timorese rise against Australia exploiting their maritime sovereignty

[TamilNet, Saturday, 26 March 2016, 11:23 GMT]
0More than ten thousand East Timorese gathered in front of the Australian Embassy in Dili on March 22 demanding a re-negotiation of the maritime borders of the strategic as well as oil- and gas rich Timorese sea. Grass-root level activists, students and former liberation fighters organized the protest, seeking an end to Australian violation of East Timorese national sovereignty. The protests follow several large demonstrations organized by the East Timorese people protesting Australian state-corporate imperialism in their homeland. The latest mobilisation of East Timorese is a lesson to the smaller nations, peoples and their former liberation fighters on how to confront the outer challenges through a struggle-centric approach, commented Tamil activists for alternative politics in the occupied country of Eezham Tamils.

SL State launches ‘heritage genocide’ projects in Jaffna circumventing NPC

[TamilNet, Sunday, 20 March 2016, 14:08 GMT]
0The occupying unitary State of genocidal Sri Lanka, which has been adamantly refusing to hand over the affairs of looking after the cultural heritage of North and East into the hands of provincial councils, on Friday launched a new project with foreign funding with the aim of bringing the affairs of cultural heritage, heritage management and cultural tourism into the hands of Colombo run ministries. Combining the funding through ‘Colonial heritage’ masters in Europe, Maithiri – Ranil regime is advancing the ‘Army and Archaeology’ paradigm of Rajapaksa regime into new genocidal heights, commented political observers in Jaffna after witnessing the way of the launching of ‘Historical Monuments of the Jaffna Fort’ with a politicized ‘antiquities replica shop’ and the Nalloor office for ‘Jaffna Project’ of ‘Central Cultural Fund’.
