TNA urges International Community to act

Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Wednesday condemned the GoSL and its peace secretariat for "duplicitous behavior" and "carrying on a malicious and false campaign to mislead the international community," and urged the International Community to "realize this reality and take the appropriate action to compel the Sri Lankan State to act in a responsible way in the interest of the peace process," in a press release issued in Colombo Wednesday.

SLA blocks transport of critically injured out of Muttur east

Senthilnathan shot and killed in Vavuniya

A trader and senior member of All Ceylon Tamil Congress in Vavuniya district, S.K. Senthilnathan, shot by paramilitary gunmen around 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, succumbed to his wounds at Vavuniya hospital, medical sources said. Mr. Senthilnathan, a popular trader and a senior member of the Tamil National Alliance party ACTC, is a candidate in the local elections to be held in Vavuniya.

Victims of air strike in Muttur, 26 April 2006.Three civilians, including Muslim Moulavi and his wife were killed and eight others were injured when Kfir jet of the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) Wednesday bombed a Muslim village 'Vaddam' in the government controlled Muttur town. The Israeli-made Kfir fighters resumed bombing Muttur east villages Wednesday morning around 7 a.m. The air strike continued for about an hour, Muslim civil sources said.

12 bodies of civilians recovered from Muttur east

Initial reports from Muttur east in Trincomalee district Wednesday morning said at least twelve bodies of Tamil civilians including men, women and children killed in Tuesday evening air strike by Kfir jets, and artillery attack by Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) and Sri Lanka Army (SLA) were recovered from Muttur east area. More casualties are expected from Tuesday attack by government troops, a NGO source in the affected area said.

Mr.Elilan made this query in his complaint lodged with the SLMM over the air strike by the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) and artillery shell attack by the Sri Lanka Army and gunboat attack by the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) on the villages in Muttur east Tuesday evening, sources said.

Sri Lankan Kfir jets have been bombing LTTE controlled Sampoor, Ilakkanthai and Kattaiparichchan villages in Muttur, Trincomalee district from 5:00 p.m Tuesday. Casualty details are not available at the moment. There are also reports about multibarrel artillery fire. Sri Lankan Dvora attack crafts and gunboats were surrounding the LTTE controlled coastal areas in Trincomalee, civilian sources said.

Bomb explosion in Colombo, Army Commander wounded

The Government of Sri Lanka (GoSL), which has been inciting violence with it's paramilitaries in total violation to the ceasefire agreement and working hard to sever the relationship between the LTTE and the international community, has shattered all the goodwill gestures, said S.P. Thamilchelvan, Political Head of the Tigers in a letter to the Norwegian Special Envoy Jon Hanssen Bauer on Tuesday. The Political Head of the LTTE also said that the International Community should come forward to pressure the GoSL, to calm the current tense situation and bring to an immediate end to the violence.

SLA soldiers open fire at civilian bus, 1 dead, 4 missing

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers opened fire on a mini bus killing it's civilian driver at Kanakampuliyady junction Monday around 7:15 p.m. The fate of at least four passengers is not known. Residents, who heard gunfire and screaming from the vehicle, expressed fear that all inside the bus were killed and the traces removed from the attack site. SLA sources on Monday claimed that four persons had run away from the bus.

Another police sergeant was wounded in a grenade attack Saturday night at Navalkuda police sentry in Kalmunai in Batticaloa district.
