Sri Lanka buying missiles - report

Sri Lanka is buying Surface to Air Missiles (SAMs) and radar systems, according to the latest issue of the military industry publication, Jane's Defence Weekly. Reports that the Liberation Tigers have acquired an air capability "have forced the Sri Lanka government to hurriedly procure air-defence systems" said the JDW.

VoT short wave transmission extended

The radio said in its evening programme, on the FM meter band, said that the short wave transmission can now be heard from 6.30 a.m. to 8.00 a.m., daily on 41 meter band, 7460 KHz

Shelling victim dies

New amnesty for deserters - SLA

Twenty six soldiers were wounded in limited operations conducted by the Sri Lankan Army in Kudarappu and Kaithady in Jaffna and in the Paranthan during the last 48 hours said military spokesman Brig.Sunil Tennekoon, addressing journalists at the cabinet press briefing today. He said that 21 Tigers were killed in Paranthan and 6 Tigers in Jaffna in these operations.

Government eases graduate unemployment

Three Tigers killed

Army finds explosives on bus

Three Tigers killed - SLA

Three Liberation Tigers were shot dead by the government forces in fresh clashes in the Vanni region security sources said. Soldiers on duty ahead of their defences sniped and killed two tigers north west of Oddusuddan and another tiger member was killed in a sniper fire at Kilinochchi on Wednesday, said the sources.
