SLA deserter Surrenders

A deserter from the Sri Lankan Army (SLA) who was arrested and sent to operational areas of the Vanni surrendered to the Liberation Tigers, said the LTTE today. The Liberation Tigers added that the SLA soldier would be handed over to his parents according to his wishes through the International Red Cross Committee (ICRC).

SLA says finds LTTE member's body

A long year on the road

Exactly one year ago, the Sri Lankan military began the largest military campaign in its history. Preceded by a massive artillery and aerial bombardment, over 20,000 Sri Lankan troops, led by elite Special Forces, broke out of their fortifications at Vavuniya and Manal Aru and pushed into the LTTE-controlled Vanni.
