SLA attacks school bus in Madu, 8 killed, 35 wounded

8 civilians including children were killed and 35 wounded in Liberation Tigers of Tamileelam controlled area in Madu division of Mannaar district Tuesday at 2:25 p.m. when a Deep Penetration Unit of the Sri Lanka Army triggered a Claymore mine targeting a bus with school children, according to initial reports from Tamileelam Police officials in Madu. The bus, with children and catholic clergy, was returning from a sports event, according to the initial reports. Further details will follow.

LTTE, SLA clash in Ma'nalaa'ru, SLAF bombs Ira'naimadu

Heavy fighting erupted between the Sri Lanka Army and the Liberation Tigers of Tamileelam in Ma'nalaa'ru (Weli Oya) Monday noon and the clash went on till 6:00 p.m. The Tigers said the SLA abandoned the attempt to breach the LTTE Forward Defence Line in Kokkuththoduvaay and Ma'nki'ndimalai after 6-hours stiff resistance.

SLA steps up minor clashes in Madu region

Sri Lanka Army, that has suffered casualties in medium scale offensive operations in Mannaar, has stepped up minor clashes as Tigers have successfully utilized booby traps and sniper attacks to confronting large number of SLA troops engaged in offensive operations. On Monday, Six clashes were reported in Pa'ndivirichchaan and Chinna Pa'ndivirichchaan areas close to Madu in Mannaar district and two clashes were reported in Vi'laaththikku'lam area bordering the Vavuniyaa district, in addition to a clash in Paalamoaddai.

SLAF bombs Ki'linochchi suburb, 1 killed, 7 wounded

0Liberation Tigers anti-aircraft guns fired at Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) warplanes that bombed a civilian area with a mechanic workshop near Kanakapuram Maha Viththiyaalayam school at Kanakapuram, a suburb of Ki'linochchi town, Thursday morning. A 32-years-old man who sought safety inside a bunker was wounded and succumbed to his injuries. Seven civilians were wounded in the SLAF attack. Nine houses were damaged in the bombardment that was launched at 9:30 a.m. and carried out four times.

Charles, Head of Liberation Tigers Military Intelligence, was killed Saturday evening in a random Claymore attack by Sri Lanka Army Deep Penetration Unit in Pa'l'lamadu in Mannaar, LTTE sources in Vanni said. Col. Charles who has been in charge of internal intelligence within the ranks of LTTE ground forces and led an external operations corps as well as a regular combat force that has been deployed in Mannaar district, was killed together with three LTTE lieutenants in the ambush while they were riding in a van between Iluppaikkadavai and Pa'l'lamadu at 3:10 p.m.

Jeyananthamoorthy, appealed to the Batticaloa Aditional Government Agent, K Maheshan, to immediately take all necessary steps to provide relief assistance to the flood victims in the Batticaloa district. Continued torrential rain is falling in Batticaloa, Amparai and Polannaruwa districts for more than 24 hours, and most of the low lying areas in Batticaloa have become submerged resulting in a large number of civilians becoming displaced from their residences, sources in the region said.
