BJP’s bypass ‘geopolitics’

[TamilNet, Sunday, 03 August 2014, 19:03 GMT]
New Delhi’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) comes out with a comical ‘geopolitics’ bypassing India’s own Tamil Nadu State and the nation of Eezham Tamils at the closest proximity, to build a ‘Ram Sethu’ to genocidal Sri Lanka, and in that process concedes to the total annihilation of the nation and territoriality of Eezham Tamils. Even though the inroads of China and Pakistan are cited as usual, and now added with citation of US interference as well, the DNA of the thinking of New Delhi and some of its South Indian articulators on the question of Tamils has to be carefully understood by all Tamils. There is no alternative to Tamils proving their geopolitical strength in all justifiable ways possible.

Israel, Sri Lanka, need collective world action

[TamilNet, Friday, 01 August 2014, 00:02 GMT]
What Israel is doing in Gaza now is collective punishment. Israel will accept nothing short of the acquiescence of Palestinians to their own subordination. The twenty-three-year charade of the “peace process” has shown that this is all Israel is offering, with the full approval of Washington. The U.S. must either reverse its policies or abandon its claim of being an “honest broker.” It should certainly not insult Palestinians by saying that it cares about them or their children, who are dying in Gaza today, writes Arab Studies Professor Rashid Khalidi of Columbia University. What is said on Palestine is no different from what could be said on Washington and New Delhi put together in the case of the nation of Eezham Tamils, comment Tamil activists for alternative politics.

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 30 July 2014, 20:42 GMT]
The STF, trained by the British, which is a full-fledged military outfit under the SL Police and was directly engaged in acts of genocide in the East as well as in Vanni during the war, has started arbitrary arrests in Jaffna peninsula during the night time. [TamilNet, Wednesday, 23 July 2014, 18:14 GMT]
0Over a thousand Tamils from across the UK gathered outside the Celtic Park venue in Glasgow, Scotland, where the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games was taking place, to remember the victims of Sri Lanka's genocidal pogrom of Black July 1983 and to condemn participation of Sri Lanka in the event. However, Sri Lanka's President Rajapaksa, who was scheduled to be present at the event, evaded it owing to fear of protests reports say. The Tamils, who gathered with the national flag of Tamil Eelam in huge numbers, were treated cordially by the Scottish police, activists present at the demonstration said.

BJP regime provides ‘benami’ economic benefits to genocidal Sri Lanka

[TamilNet, Saturday, 12 July 2014, 08:53 GMT]
Completely ignoring the unanimous demand of the Tamil Nadu assembly for India to boycot commercial ties with genocidal Sri Lanka, the Indian Minister of External Affairs, Ms Sushma Swaraj, has strengthened New Delhi’s ties with Colombo by promoting a $1bn garment-manufacturing town for Sri Lanka’s Garments Export industry in Visakhapatnam, a military cum strategic harbour city in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The project will be serving the US and British corporate giants in the garment market such as Victoria’s Secret (USA), Hanes (USA) Tommy Hilfiger (USA), Nike (USA), Gap (USA), Marks & Spencer (UK) and Next (UK) circumventing any moral objection related to genocidal Sri Lanka. Establishment centric Indian media was highlighting the case as employment to 60,000 people in India while activists in Tamil Nadu were preparing their response to the latest move by the BJP government.

[TamilNet, Friday, 11 July 2014, 23:51 GMT]
Human and animal figures in terracotta found at Chinna-poovarasang-ku'lamA large number of terracotta images and other artefacts in sherds were found at an agricultural land in Chinna-Poovarasang-ku’lam in the Mullaiththeevu district of the country of Eezham Tamils this week. The villagers handed over the artefacts found in the private land to occupying Sri Lanka’s ‘Government Agent’ in Vavuniyaa, who in turn deposited them at the local museum in Vavuniyaa. However, occupying Sri Lanka’s military intelligence was after everyone involved in the discovery as well as the site, sources in the district told TamilNet. Meanwhile, some Tamil inscriptions have recently been found at Padaviya in the Anuradhapura district, but their contents and the present whereabouts of the stone slabs are now unknown, academic sources said.

[TamilNet, Thursday, 10 July 2014, 23:24 GMT]

Eezham Tamils foster mutual understanding with Tamil-speaking Muslims

[TamilNet, Monday, 23 June 2014, 23:30 GMT]
Eezham Tamils, who are confronting a protracted structural genocide against their nation after facing the massive genocidal onslaught in 2009, have called for stronger ties with Tamil-speaking Muslims. The Ezham Tamils, who have been facing the anti-Tamil pogroms, massacres, bombardments for several decades and finally the genocidal onslaught on Vanni in 2009, have a deep understanding on the situation of the Tamil-speaking Muslims, who are now being targeted by the exclusivist Sinhala Buddhists and their unitary State of genocidal Sri Lanka, the Tamil political leaders and academics who have taken part in the demonstrations against the anti-Muslim pogroms said.

Anti-Muslim violence is systematic pogrom, not communal riot

[TamilNet, Friday, 20 June 2014, 21:09 GMT]
After waging war against the nation of Eezham Tamils, there is a clear, systematic pattern of violence against the Muslims in the island of Sri Lanka during the last two years, said the State president of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), Mr KKSM Tehlan Baqavi, in an exclusive interview to TamilNet this week. The Tamil Nadu politician of the pan-Indian Muslim political party urged the world to pay particular attention that the Buddhist extremist Bodu Bala Sena is a creation of the SL military system led by Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. There is a clear nexus between the military and the extremist force, he said. There is also a serious question why the pogrom is getting instigated at this juncture, despite the global focus on the records of the SL State, he said.

[TamilNet, Saturday, 14 June 2014, 06:10 GMT]

The Nigerians are having discussions pertaining to strategy and tactics with a military delegation from Sri Lanka led by Chief of Defence Staff Jagath Jayasuriya, a genocide-accused who was the overall command overseeing the offensives on the Eezham Tamils in Vanni from 2008-2009. The US led West and several other African countries are also supporting Nigeria in its offensives against the Boko Haram insurgency.

India to build ‘cultural centre’ at Jaffna

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 10 June 2014, 23:12 GMT]
The Government of India, after taking permission from the Sri Lankan state, is planning to construct a cultural centre at Jaffna. A Memorandum of Understanding for implementation of the project was signed by the High Commissioner of India Mr. Y.K. Sinha and the Secretary to the Ministry of Economic Development, Dr. Nihal Jayathilaka in the presence of Basil Rajapaksa, the website of the Indian High Commission for Sri Lanka reported on Monday. The aim of the project was “to rejuvenate and nurture the ancient cultural heritage of Jaffna”, the report further said. Jaffna civil society activists however are sceptical and wonder whether this project is a “cultural imperialist” collaboration between New Delhi and Colombo to distort, fetishize and commercialize the culture of the Eezham Tamils.

‘Proliferation of micronarratives assists the logic of counterinsurgency’

[TamilNet, Saturday, 07 June 2014, 23:48 GMT]
In the context of the Tamil Eelam liberation struggle, when a “micronarrative” discourse about gender, caste, region or other “special interest groups” claims autonomous status, “when it divorces itself from the primary contradiction between the Tamil nationalist metanarrative and the Sri Lankan state, it only ends up fracturing a resistance movement against genocide” argues Karthick RM. In an article published on Indian journal Sanhati, providing examples of how such differences were used to fracture the Eezham Tamils liberation struggle in the past and the present, he shows that such “dissidence” only assists the logic of counterinsurgency (COIN). Drawing from classical and contemporary COIN experts and from the writings of psychologists, Mr. Karthick also observes how such micronarratives and a defeatist mentality complement each other.

Polarization widens between New Delhi and Tamil Nadu following Rajapaksa visit

[TamilNet, Thursday, 29 May 2014, 23:24 GMT]
Protests have proliferated in Tamil Nadu state against what activists have termed as “New Delhi’s unwavering courting of genocidal Sri Lanka”, at the very inception of the new BJP government. The decision to invite the Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa to the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Indian Prime Minister is interpreted as New Delhi’s disrespect to the democratic mandate expressed in Tamil Nadu State Assembly resolutions calling for sanctions on Sri Lanka and for a referendum to be conducted among the Eezham Tamil nation.

Acid test for Eezham Tamil Bishops, TN Archbishop should intervene

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 28 May 2014, 16:33 GMT]
The announcement of Pope Francis to visit Mahinda Rajapaksa’s genocidal Sri Lanka in January 2015 is not a small matter. It is like giving a ‘spiritual finishing touch’ to the temporal conquest achieved through genocide cum agent State paradigm by current imperialism. What is actually meant by the idea, ‘reconciliation’ for a united island after genocide, hatched by the US State Department in 2009, is explicitly evident in the last five years in the form of Sinhala militarisation, colonisation, structural genocide and annihilation of the nation of Eezham Tamils. The Pope now visiting the island carrying the banner of ‘reconciliation’ is not going to reverse the process, but will only confirm the process.
