NPC Councillor vows to take next-phase of protests to foreign missions in Colombo

[TamilNet, Thursday, 26 January 2017, 17:10 GMT]
Northern Provincial Councillor Mrs Ananthy Sasitharan has vowed to take the next step of struggle by the relatives of the enforced disappeared to the diplomatic missions of foreign powers that were responsible for urging Tamils to surrender and move towards Vavuniyaa during the final phase of the Tamil genocide in 2009. In the meantime, the kith and kin of enforced disappeared who were on a hunger strike temporarily ended their struggle on the 4th day on Thursday after SL Deputy Defence Secretary has brokered a meeting between the hunger strikers and the SL Prime Minister on 09th February. Two symbolic hunger-strikes were conducted in Jaffna on Thursday in support of the relatives of enforced disappeared in Vavuniyaa during the last phase of Tamil genocide.

The health situation of the hunger striking elderly women of Eezham Tamils subjected to enforced disappearances in SL military controlled Vavuniyaa during and after the genocidal onslaught on Vanni in 2009 has escalated on the third day of their fast-unto death campaign demanding immediate answers from the SL State and its backers on the whereabouts of their kith and kin. Medical sources in Vavuniyaa have urged hospitalisation of four women who were treated by the doctors on Wednesday. But, the hunger strikers have refused to cooperate and continue their struggle. In the meantime, several activists in Jaffna, Trincomalee and other places have called for escalation of hunger strike in other places. USA, Norway, UK, EU and Japan answerable for Vavuniyaa missing

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 24 January 2017, 22:32 GMT]
The USA, the EU, the UK, Norway and Japan, demanded Eezham Tamils to move into SL military controlled Vavuniyaa towards the end of war without having any international mechanism on place for their protection. Apart from those who perished, the number of people who were unaccounted for during the genocidal onslaught, a staggering 146,679, is the potential figure of ‘missing persons’. The SL State has put the number of Tamil detainees and prisoners below 200. The genocidal State refuses to recognize them as political prisoners. In the meantime, trauma-stricken kith and kin who survived the Tamil genocide, have been made to carry the photos of their missing ones and expect justice from nowhere. In an attempt to get attention, they have launched a hunger strike at Vavuniyaa this week.

Colombo resumes abduction-styled arrests of former LTTE members

[TamilNet, Sunday, 22 January 2017, 23:16 GMT]
The so-called ‘Terrorist’ Investigation Division (TID) of genocidal Sri Lanka has silently resumed abduction-styled ‘arrests’ in Ki'linochchi district in January 2017, according to informed legal sources in the district. Two men, wearing civilian clothes entered the house of 32-year-old Murugiah Thavaventhan on Wilson Road in Thiruvai-aa'ru in the Karaichchi division of Ki'linochchi district on 15 January and took the former member of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), almost 7 years after he was re-united with his family in March 2010. Legal sources providing assistance to the family said Mr Thavaventhan was being detained by the TID at Vavuniyaa and that the family was not given a valid reason for his detention. Similarly, another ex-LTTE member, 37-year-old Kulendran Karalasingham, who is also from the same area, has been detained by the notorious TID at his working place.

Sinhala military suppresses protests in Vanni prior to Maithiripala visit

[TamilNet, Friday, 20 January 2017, 22:10 GMT]
The intelligence officers of the occupying Sinhala military, which is camped at Keappaa-pulavu, a village situated along Nanthik-kadal lagoon in Mullaiththeevu, have instructed the Rural Development Society leaders and a section of the uprooted people, stating that there should be no protests, especially during the visit of SL President Maithiripala Sirisena by the uprooted people who remain dumped in a slum-settlement created by the SL military, which has seized their village. The intelligence officers have even named the persons who could be protesting, the RDS representatives said. One of the named protestors, Mrs Inthirany Vivekananthan, narrates the story of the long protests by the villagers, who remain firm in their demand of resettling in Keappaa-pulavu.

Genocidal port ‘development’ targets Point Pedro, KKS for Sinhalicisation of Jaffna

[TamilNet, Thursday, 19 January 2017, 10:03 GMT]
As Trincomalee Harbour, the fifth largest natural harbour in the world, was targeted by genocidal Colombo through decades of militarization, foreign meddling and so-called development in the Eastern Province paving way for the entire Trincomalee district to be subjected to large-scale Sinhala colonisation in the past, genocidal Sri Lanka has targeted two harbours in the Jaffna district of Northern Province for future Sinhalicisation of Jaffna through militarization, ‘development’ and Sinhalicisation. Colombo’s Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development is embarked on a multi-million project through so-called ‘development‘ of the two already militarized Kankeasan-thu’rai (KKS) and Point Pedro harbours through Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) and Ceylon Fishery Harbours Corporation (CFHC).

System B of Mahaweli scheme targets demographic genocide of Eezham TamilsThree cattle-herding Tamil farmers were brutally assaulted on Tuesday by Sinhala Buddhist monks at Maathava’nai pastureland, situated in Koa’ra’laip-pattu South (Kiraan) division of Batticaloa district. Three monks in robe emerged from Mayilaththa-madu camp of the occupying Sinhala military while the Tamil farmers were feeding water to their cows at Maanthalai-aa’ru river. 8,500 landowner families remain uprooted due to Sinhala militarisation of Jaffna District

[TamilNet, Sunday, 08 January 2017, 15:31 GMT]
The Sinhala military of genocidal Sri Lanka is still occupying 5,322 acres of private lands owned by 8,065 families in Jaffna district, according to latest figures from the District Secretariat. Among the 14 administrative divisions in the district, 7,921 families uprooted from their 4,589 acres of lands are from Valikaamam North, which is administratively managed by Thellippazhai Divisional Secretariat. Of these, only 791 families (10%) reside in the so-called welfare camps. The remaining 7,130 landowner-families, uprooted from the fertile Valikaamam North, reside outside these camps in the island or elsewhere. In the meantime, Colombo's regime and its global backers are trying to deceive the poverty-stricken 10% in order to ensure permanent genocidal occupation of fertile Valikaamam North and the strategic coastline with its rich fish beds that belong to the nation of Eezham Tamils.

Colombo frames cases to prolong imprisonment of Tamil political prisoners

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 04 January 2017, 22:13 GMT]
30-year-old Sulaxan Mathiyarasan, who was detained by the occupying Sinhala military at Mu'l'livaaykkaal on the final day of genocidal onslaught on Vanni on 18 May 2009, and later languished in three prisons for more than 7 years without a valid case, is now facing a newly framed case in which the so-called ‘Terrorist Investigation Division’ has used statements obtained under torture from other inmates, who were former LTTE members. The TID is arguing that for security reasons, the cases where ex-LTTE members’ statements were being used, should be moved to courts in the South for ‘security’ reasons. There are 132 Tamil political prisoners currently detained in the prisons of genocidal Sri Lanka while whereabouts of thousands, subjected to forced disappearance or filtered away from the survivors of 2009 genocide, is not yet known

Overfishing by Sinhala intruders out of control, Tamil fishermen at the verge of anger

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 03 January 2017, 21:27 GMT]
While the number of families dependent on fishing in the five districts of Northern Province has sharply grown by 6,000 units within the five years since 2010, the coastal stretch dotted with fishing ‘paadu’s (sea beds falling within the scope of draw-nets of local fishermen) between Mullaiththeevu and Mukaththuvaaram have been drastically reduced due to the encroachment by intruding Sinhala fishermen from other provinces. According to the district-wise figures, there were 35,478 families, dependent on fishing as their livelihood in 2010. By November 2015, the figure had risen to 41,491 families due to resettlement and due to the lack of other income sources. The 19% growth of fishing families comes despite the most densely populated district in the North, the Jaffna district, registering the lowest population growth in the entire island.

To mark the contribution of both MGR and the late Jayalalithaa to the Tamil cause in the island, All Ceylon MGR Fan Club, based in Jaffna has been trying to erect memorial statues within the city limits of Jaffna in remembrance of both the late chief ministers of Tamil Nadu. However, the Colombo Establishment, which is controlling the affairs of Jaffna Municipal Council through an appointed Commissioner, is sabotaging the attempt, complained Pon Mathimukarajah Vijayakanth, the chairman of MGR Club at a press conference held at the Jaffna Press Club on Friday.

Unabated construction of Kokku’laay vihara in 2016, a premonition of 2017 demographic genocide

[TamilNet, Friday, 30 December 2016, 22:25 GMT]
0Totally undeterred by civil protests and interim orders coming from local authorities, the construction of the controversial Buddhist vihara has continued throughout the year in 2016 at the strategic coastal stretch at Kokku'laay in Mullaith-theevu district. The scheme, conceived as a project of Sinhalicisation to permanently wedge the territorial integrity of the homeland of Eezham Tamils, has been continued with the backing of occupying SL military and the blessings of various ministries under the so-called good governance of genocidal Sri Lanka. This act alone is enough to explain how the structural and demographic genocide against Eezham Tamils would be continued through the sophisticated constitutional process that seeks to permanently trap Eezham Tamils into the ‘territorial integrity’ of genocidal unitary ‘Sri Lanka’ in 2017, Tamil political observers in Vanni commented.

TNA should quit constitutional steering committee: EPRLF

[TamilNet, Thursday, 29 December 2016, 20:26 GMT]
The position of the TNA was that talks on political solution should precede the discourse on constitutional proposals. This has not taken place. The parties comprising the TNA are kept at dark by Opposition Leader R. Sampanthan and M.A. Sumanthiran. The duo has completely disregarded the exercise of participatory democracy of others in the TNA alliance, including the majority of other ITAK parliamentarians, said EPRLF Leader Suresh Premachandran on Wednesday this week. Except some ‘secret meetings’ organised by SL Foreign Ministry at Singapore and in London with some of their collaborators in the Tamil diaspora, the duo have kept the entire Tamil nation uninformed of their work, Mr Suresh Premachandran said.

SL militarisation, ‘development’ to permanently wedge North-East under new Constitution

[TamilNet, Monday, 26 December 2016, 20:15 GMT]
Under the pretext of defending ‘national security’ and the so-called duty of ‘protecting sovereignty’ of genocidal Sri Lanka, Sinhala Army and Navy will be permanently stationed in the North and East. In the meantime, almost all the potential lands not utilised so far, will be seized by various mechanisms coming under the direct control of the unitary character of SL State. The powers in the future Provincial List, giving a fake impression of ‘federal character’, will not be useful in ensuring the demographic security of the nation of Eezham Tamils in the island, as they will not have any constitutional arrangement of ensuring their inalienable sovereign rights to their homeland. In the meantime, Colombo regime and its external partners are trying to woo Tamil votes for the new Constitution through the sophisticated talk of another ‘temporary’ merger of North and East, TNA sources said.

Poverty-stricken uprooted Tamils deceived to bribe SL military to become eligible for housing status

[TamilNet, Sunday, 25 December 2016, 17:01 GMT]
A Scandinavia-based media operative, who is a long-time collaborator of foreign intelligence Establishments and who has been working with the rulers of genocidal Sri Lanka against the freedom struggle of Eezham Tamils for decades, has now been deployed as a bribing agent, allegedly by the SL military commander in Jaffna Major, General Mahes Senanayake, in deceiving a number of poverty-stricken uprooted families from Valikaamam North to pay 50,000 rupees each to become ‘eligible’ as recipients of so-called ‘housing schemes’ being built by Colombo's Ministry of Resettlement and the occupying military. Between 60 to 80 families have already paid 50,000 rupees each through the media-operative, who has been deployed to trap the people to succumb to the designs of the genocidal military. Some sources put the number of families who succumbed to the trap as high as 200.
