‘HSZ in Jaffna expanded post ceasefire'

The high security zones in the Jaffna district have been expanded since the signing of the ceasefire agreement by the Government of Sri Lanka and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, said the former Jaffna Municipal Commissioner, Mr.C.V.K.Sivagnanam, who is the current President of the Northern Federation of Farmers' Co-operative Societies, addressing a press briefing held at the Jaffna Humanitarian Agencies Consortium (JHAC) office Sunday.

Delft local authority to pay SLN's telephone arrears

Sri Lanka Telecom Friday disconnected the telephone line to the Delft Pradeshiya Sabah (PS - village level local authority) in Jaffna district due to the failure of paying arrears incurred to the PS administration when its office building was under the control of the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN), local government ministry sources said.

SLN lays condition for beaching crafts in Jaffna

World Bank commends LTTE for its cooperation

Resettlement in Talaimannar Pier areas to begin

Sittampalam Jeyapalan, a senior officer attached to the international NGO from Switzerland, FSD, said that 1394 land mines, 9 claymore mines and 8 unexploded shells have been removed from the Talaimannar West and East areas in the last one hundred days. Administrative officials in Talaimannar said that the clearing of mines has allowed displaced residents from Talaimannar pier area to prepare for resettlement.

TULF’s Trinco branch wants action against Anandasangaree
