SL Police officer grabs 10 acres of lands at Kokkaddi in Champoor

An SL Police officer, A.K.A. Sawahir, who chased away uprooted Tamil villagers who went to their village of Kokkdaddi (Vaddavan) in October 2015 on the instruction of Moothoor Divisional Secretary V. Yoosuff and the SL Forest Department, has now illegally grabbed 10 acres of lands at the same locality for himself with the help of the DS Secretary, allege the Tamil villagers who have been refused access to their lands in Champoor East of Trincomalee district. Kokkaddi is an ancient Tamil coastal village with fertile upper lands suitable for agriculture and farming.

The CGI visiting the Sinhala-Buddhist monk at Nayinaatheevu, who is treated by the occupying Sinhala Navy as a commander as standing above the executive SL President, is sending wrong signals to Eezham Tamils and the people of Tamil Nadu State in India, commented Tamil political activists in Jaffna. The extremist monk who doesn't adhere to the civic rule or the provincial council in North has recently recommenced the controversial construction of 67-feet Buddha statue. The visit also comes after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the island on International Vesak Day two months ago.

The proponents want to preserve the unitary character of SL State. This means preserving the genocidal character of the SL State as far as Eezham Tamils are concerned. All the previous constitutions in the island have been rejected by Tamils. Knowing the Tamil discourse of the past very well, the external powers, particularly the West, is currently promoting ‘Quisling politics’ among Tamils. It is therefore vital to grasp the synthesis of the Quisling politics and regain the strength to address it through the approach embraced by enlightened leaders of Eezham Tamils in the past.

Tamil blood-infuse campaign draws Sinhala-Buddhist monks in genocidal Sri Lanka

A false propaganda was recently let loose through Sinhala media in the South hinting that Tamils in the North were reluctant to donate their blood to the blood bank in Jaffna due to ‘caste differences’ prevailing among them. The propaganda, seems to have originated from Colombo’s “Army and Archaeology,” which is interlinked with the extremist sections of Buddhist Establishment. After the Goebbelsian tactic of connecting ‘caste’ and ‘Tamil blood’, a section of extremist Sinhala monks were brought to Jaffna with symptoms of ‘superiority complex’ to donate ‘Sinhala blood’ to the blood bank in Jaffna, commented medical sources in Jaffna. The same tendency was working in the rape of Tamil women too, said Tamil political observers.

UN in Myanmar reaps what it has sown in genocidal Sri Lanka

Myanmar on Friday surpassed ‘Sri Lanka’ in challenging UN scrutiny of its crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing. Myanmar will refuse entry to members of a UN probe focusing on allegations of killings, rape and torture by its security forces against Rohingya Muslims. In addition, it wants to keep the so-called ‘Domestic Investigation’ in the hands of people coming from the very military against which the allegations are made. As Myanmar follows genocidal Sri Lanka, UN is heading for the fate of The League of Nations. Defying international norms on people’s affairs such as human rights has to be carefully differentiated from defiance shown to the UN on other matters, as the former is the worst one from the vantage of the masses, and elements that advise and back such State defiance are the worst enemies of humanity, commented Tamil activists for alternative politics in the island.

Nullified ownership of lands not revoked by Colombo: resettled Champoor Tamils

Occupying Colombo has once again proved its systematic violation of traditional land ownership rights of Eezham Tamils to their private lands in Champoor, complain representatives of Vinaayakar Community Centre (Chana-chamooka-nilaiyam) from Champoor in Moothoor East of Trincomalee district. The families in Champoor had residential and agricultural lands as combined tracts of lands that measured from 0.5 acre to 2 acres per family before they were uprooted from their village in September 2006. Now, the occupying Colombo wants to limit their ownership rights to just 20 perches per family, the representatives of Vinaayakar Community Centre told TamilNet on Friday.

Diaspora should conceive institutions in homeland based on native paradigm of nation-building

Many of the NGOs of the West and India that operate in the occupied country of Eezham Tamils want to de-politicize the social institutions of Eezham Tamils in the homeland and in the diaspora. They are deployed with the agenda of de-linking the nationhood politics of Eezham Tamils from their social institutions. The Tamil diaspora has a moral duty to counter this destructive trend through self-awakening, said Tamil Nadu activist Thirumugan Gandhi, while responding to a question from TamilNet in a video interview in March. His response to the question is being published in full for the perusal of Tamils in the homeland and in the diaspora. The coordinator of May 17 Movement has been jailed along with three other activists of Thamizhar Vidiyal Kadchi under the notorious ‘Goondas Act’ after they organised a candlelight vigil on May 21 in remembrance of those who perished in Vanni in 2009.

The UN Human Rights Chief, Zeid Ra’ad al- Hussain said to an audience in London on Monday that struggle against terrorism was “being exploited by governments” and risked undermining international rights treaties, reports Reuter on Tuesday. Zeid was telling this in the context of the outlook of Trump, May, Duterte, and the governments of Egypt, Bahrain and Turkey. The belated response comes as the obsession is mainly on heightened confrontation of the West with the Islamic World, and as the former paradigm setters in the US and UK are now in the opposition. A bandwagon of governments and the UN were abetting when the paradigm was set in the genocide of Eezham Tamils. Now, Trump and May only tacitly help moral vindication of the case of Eezham Tamils that was not coming through any formal ‘international investigation,’ commented Tamil activists for alternative politics in the island.

Uprooted Mu'l'lik-ku'lam fishermen blocked from fresh-water fishing

The uprooted families of Mu'l'lik-ku'lam, who are languishing without access to their village, which has been seized by the occupying Sinhala Navy, complain that the SL fisheries authorities were also blocking them from fishing in the Mudar-kaama-aa'ru river, where they use to fish when the winds were not in favour of fishing in the high seas in the Gulf of Mannaar. Two representatives of Mu'l'lik-ku'lam fishermen, Anthony Cruze and Antony Lambert, addressed media in Jaffna on Saturday detailing the destitute situation of the uprooted people of Mu'l'lik-ku'lam.

Colombo's erasing of “Eezham” from Tamil philosophical poet’s statue evokes strong reactions

SL Military Intelligence officers, who came from Colombo, were harassing the Divisional Secretary of Karaichchi division in Ki'linochchi, demanding the latter to erase the term "Eezham" from the base of the statue of Tamil Poet and Philosopher Thiruva'l'luvar. The statue was raised inside the premises of Karaichchi DS office on 17 June. The organisation, coordinating the raising of the statue in the district, the Tamil Sangam in Ki'linochchi, was asked by the DS to erase the term, leaving behind the other term “Ilangkai”. The Sinhlala military-instructed removal of the main Tamil term Eezham has evoked strong reactions from all the sections of Eezham Tamils in the island. The initiative-taker of the move, Mara'vanpulavu K. Satchithananthan, reminded the readers that even the Sinhala term ‘Hela’ was originating from the same root and called the removal of the word an act of cowardice.

Tamil fishermen in Vanni warn of confronting intruding Sinhala fishermen

Eezham Tamil fishermen’s societies in Mullaith-theevu and in Vadamaraadchi East complain that more than 400 trawlers from the South have been deployed along their coast from Chaalai to Naakar-koayil in Jaffna district, exploiting their livelihood and marine resources almost on daily basis in the recent weeks. The occupying Sinhala fishermen were telling the local fishermen in the beginning that they would not be disturbing the livelihood of the local fishermen and that there were only 40 trawlers engaging in the fishing from a distance of 4 nautical miles beyond the coastline. But, the intrusion has now exceeded completely out of proportion, causing destruction to the fishing nets of local fishermen. The Sinhala fishermen are deploying prohibited methods of fishing at the presence of SL Navy.

Global ‘environment funds’ deployed by Colombo to seize lands in North-East

Global Establishments seem to be extensively involved in channelling funds to Colombo through the so-called ‘environmental’ and ‘forest preservation’ projects that are conceived by the SL State and Colombo- and Sinhala-centric NGOs, which derive their funds from global programmes associated with the programmes being promoted by global Establishments, particularly the outfits of the West. In order to secure such funds, the agent-State in Colombo is relentlessly seizing the lands of Tamil-speaking peoples in the North and East. Retired Land Commissioner of Eastern Province, Mr Kathirkamathamby Kurunathan, in an interview to TamilNet this week was citing Gazetted seizure of lands from Musali in Mannaar to Ampaa'rai in the East and illustrated how these appropriations were circumventing even the safeguards of the SL Constitution and the principles of natural justice.

Time is running out for ITAK to re-orientate itself to basic fundamentals of Tamil struggle

The guarantees and promises given so far by R. Sampanthan on crucial matters such as de-militarisation, resettlement, tracing the enforced disappeared, international investigations and on achieving a federal solution have not been materialised. The Eezham Tamils in the North-East are losing faith on Opposition Leader. Instead, the Tamil people look upon Justice Wigneswaran as their leader, said Suresh Premachandran, the leader of the EPRLF, one of the constituent parties of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA). Three of the four parties comprising the TNA stand with Wigneswaran. Tamil people have delivered their message to the ITAK through the shutdown and agitations in Jaffna, Ki'linochchi, Mullaiththeevu and Vavuniyaa. There was also much support coming from Eastern province, the former TNA parliamentarian told TamilNet on Saturday after a joint meeting with Justice C.V. Wigneswaran.

Jaffna at standstill, people rally at Nallloor in support of Wigneswaran

More than 2,000 Eezham Tamils, most of them students, gathered in front of Nalloor temple and marched towards the nearby residence of NPC Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran, expressing their solidarity with him on Friday morning. The protesters condemned Ilangkai Thamizh Arasuk Kadchi (ITAK), the main constituent party of the TNA for conspiring with the Colombo’s ruling sections in a move to oust Justice C.V. Wigneswaran from the position of Chief Minister. The peaceful rally received active support from Jaffna University Teachers Association and student groups. In the meantime, all the government offices were brought to a complete standstill and the private businesses remain closed in Jaffna and elsewhere in the North, observing a successful shut-down.

NPC plunges into crisis as external agenda-backed forces challenge Wigneswaran

A considerable number of councillors submitted the request, just a few hours after Justice Wigneswaran instructed two of his ministers, subjected to investigations to resign, and asked two other ministers to go on compulsory leave until the investigation on them is completed. Bringing the four ministries under Chief Minister's purview, the NPC CM said he was answerable to the people who had entrusted him with the task of leading the NPC. TNA parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran has been involved in creating, managing and finally deploying the move as an opportunity to force Wignewaran and his genre to retire from politics. Women on protest vow to sail and seize Ira'nai-theevu with white-flags

There has been no solution to the struggle of 500 families from Ira'nai-theevu, who wage a continues protest near the coast of Muzhangkaavil, facing the Palk Strait from the Vanni mainland, 12 nautical miles away from their native twin-islands of Ira'nai-theevu. The women, who used to be actively engaged in five different means of livelihood before 1992, stay in the protest site during the day time and their husbands continue the protest during the nights after coming from the seas. “This protest, launched on May 01, will continue even if it reaches 100 days. Finally, if there is no solution, we will enter Ira’nai-theevu disregarding the warnings of SL Navy, carrying white flags in our boats,” 54-year-old Atputharany Anton told TamilNet in a video interview on Sunday.

SL Navy wants to evict Tamil sanitary workers from Manaiyaave'li, Trincomalee

Around 300 families of sanitary workers, who are all Tamils and are employed by the Trincomalee Urban Council, are being repeatedly threatened by the SL Police to leave from their residential area in Manayaveli, which is situated near the main SL Navy base in Trincomalee, the families complain. SL Policemen have been repeatedly telling the families to find other places as their lands were to be seized for ‘national security’ reasons. The poverty-stricken people, coming from the lowest echelon of the society, are now facing yet another forceful eviction if Tamil politicians, especially TNA Opposition Leader R. Sampanthan fails to attend their needs, Tamil civil sources in Trincomalee said.

Netherlands-funded CEPA project wages political ‘counter-insurgency’ on Diaspora, elected NPC

The occupying Colombo and its global backers have charted a comprehensive deceptive programme, which facilitates continued structural genocide in the North-East through a common ‘development’ programme approaching Tamil-speaking Northern and Eastern provinces together with the adjacent Sinhala-speaking North-Central province. A Colombo-based NGO outfit, Centre for Poverty Analysis (CEPA), is tasked to recruit gullible and opportunistic sections of the diaspora expanding Rajapaksa-time ‘KP-Diaspora’ programme. The CEPA, led by Sinhala academic cum consultant Udan Fernando, has been almost ‘spying’ on Tamil diaspora with the support of the Foreign Ministry of Netherlands so far. The CEPA was also trying to deceive the NPC. But, the NPC's governing body has identified the agenda behind the project. Citing its ‘interaction’ with the NPC, the CEPA is now trying to deceive the Tamil diaspora.
