Pogrom shows negative side of majority, unworkability of local investigations: NPC CM

[TamilNet, Friday, 16 March 2018, 23:12 GMT]
The recent anti-Muslim pogrom seems to be a pre-planned act, said Chief Minister of Northern Provincial Council Justice C.V. Wigneswaran in an interview to TamilNet on Friday. The same tendency was also witnessed in the anti-Tamil pogroms of the past, and it is the wrong attitude on the part of the Sinhala politicians that has been contributing to the pogroms in the island. The SL leaders are displaying the same attitude with regards to the war crimes investigations, he said. “Only if there is a foreign input into the process of investigations, we might be able to bring about an attitudinal change on the part of the government and the majority community. Nothing will come out of a local inquiry,” he said.

Muslim grassroots activists from East call for unity with Eezham Tamils

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 14 March 2018, 17:20 GMT]
Batticaloa-based veteran writer and journalist HLM Hanifa and Ampaa'rai-based national organiser of the All Ceylon Government General Employees Union (ACGGEU) Ismail Mohamed Lebbe, interviewed separately by TamilNet this week, came with the same analysis of the causes, effects and the aftermaths of the recent anti-Muslim pogroms in the island. HLM Hanifa warned that the next wave of the pogrom, which he predicted after a future island-wide elections, would be more intense and destructive than what shocked the Central Province and Ampaa'rai in the Eastern Province this time. Both of the veteran grassroots activists underlined the urgent need for unity among Eezham Tamils and Tamil-speaking Muslims in the North-East, and they were highly sceptical to the exploitative attitudes prevailing among the political elites among the Tamil-speaking Muslims.

Elected Muslim councillor in Jaffna refutes claims of SL military commander

[TamilNet, Sunday, 11 March 2018, 22:21 GMT]
“Muslims from the North-East did not play any leadership role in militarily defeating the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam as the Sri Lanka Chief of Defence Staff was claiming last week. There is no truth in the claim,” K.M. Nilam Niyaz, one of the two Muslim councillors recently elected to Jaffna Municipal Council, told TamilNet on Sunday. “As you are aware, the military is trying to exploit the situation to its advantage politically. Tamils and Muslims should not allow them to be deceived by this propaganda. Instead, they should stand united as Tamil-speaking people like they did before 1990. All the ethnicities in the island should live in peace and harmony,” the 47-year-old Tamil-speaking Muslim politician commented further.

Tamils, Muslims need strategic alliance to counter worsening paradigm of genocide

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 06 March 2018, 22:48 GMT]
Sinhala Buddhist extremist monks and sections of the SL military intelligence, directly or indirectly serving the interests of external agenda setters, have been trying to trigger off an island-wide pogrom against Tamil-speaking Muslims, starting from Kandy, the capital of Theravada Buddhism in the Central Province. It is not a shocking development, especially when the global powers competing for geo-strategic access to the island in the Indian Ocean are determined to uphold the genocidal paradigm through sustaining impunity for the unitary State. It is under the prevailing State impunity, the ‘Sinhala Only’ attitude, which manifested as an Act in the late 50s now taken an extreme form of imposing ‘uniformity’ from the southernmost Dondra point in the Sinhala country to the northernmost Chakkoadai cape in the occupied Tamil country, in every aspect of life.

0The so-called Financial Investigative Unit (FIU) of the Central Bank of the unitary State of genocidal Sri Lanka (CBSL), which is led by a Colombo-based ‘Sri Lankan’ Tamil, Indrajith Coomaraswamy, is scheming rigid controls on Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) in the North-East with a ‘counter-insurgency’ role. The Central Bank is deploying the provisions of the Financial Transactions Reporting Act, No. 6 of 2006 (FTRA), which was gazetted by the former regime of Mahinda Rajapaksa, for financial surveillance on Eezham Tamils, both in the homeland and in the Diaspora. The Central Bank of the unitary State system has become another Colombo-centric authority to wage structural genocide against Eezham Tamils with a sophisticated global network as well as sharing intelligence and surveillance with the military and police of the genocidal State.

[TamilNet, Saturday, 03 March 2018, 17:53 GMT]
0“All the superpowers have been pouring weapons into Syrian civil war aggravating the bloodbath. Playing global power politics on innocent peoples' lives should be strongly condemned. Eezham Tamils have not forgotten how more than 40 countries, including the USA, China and Russia were directly or indirectly abetting the genocidal onslaught of Eezham Tamils tilting the diplomatic and military power of the Tamils in the conflict. Don't play your global and politics on innocent people's lives. We see this repeating again and again and stand in solidarity with the affected people of humanity,” said Tamil activist V.S. [TamilNet, Monday, 26 February 2018, 13:07 GMT]
The President of genocidal Sri Lanka is trying to escape from his promises on tracing what had happened to those subjected to enforced disappearance by the armed forces under him. Mr Maithiripala Sirisena is now explaining that the crimes took place under Mahinda Rajapaksa and that he is not answerable. “As far as the families of enforced disappeared are concerned the culture of impunity continues as long as there is a Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, unwilling to trace the records of the military under him,” said Mrs Amalanayaki Amalraj, the coordinator of Batticaloa district families of persons subjected to enforced disappearances.
