TNA rejects joining SL President's Advisory Council for Peace

"It is our considered view that if the government takes clear and courageous action to recommence the negotiations, which the Government's has hitherto to failed do, the peace process can be taken forward... We would strongly urge you to implement what you enunciated at the meeting with the TNA parliamentary group on 10th June," Mr.R.Sampanthan, Tamil National Alliance parliamentary group leader said in a letter to Sri Lanka's President Ms Kumaratunge officially informing the TNA's decision of rejecting her invitation to attend the National Advisory Council for Peace and Reconciliation.

LTTE Constitutional Affairs Committee meets in Geneva

"United National Party will not participate in the All Political Party Advisory Council proposed by Sri Lanka's President Chandrika Kumaratunge since we believe that involving a multiparty council would lead to inordinate delays in peace talks. Northern Muslims support talks based on ISGA

Thileepan memorial day observed in Jaffna

Record crowds throng Canada's Pongu Thamil

Addressing the Pongu Thamil gathering, Mr. Michael Prue, MPP for East York and Beaches said he has been a politician for 18 years, was born and raised in Toronto and that he has never seen a crowd like he saw today in the history of Queens Park lawn.

The intentions of the President who "expressed her interest in restarting the peace process", were "not translated into action" said the Press Release.
