Sirisena's Forest Department escalates appropriations of lands from Tamils in Vanni

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 13 September 2016, 17:19 GMT]
Occupying Colombo's Forest Department, deploying Sinhala civil servants from South as the officers in charge of the forest affairs in Vanni, has been increasingly harassing the resettled Eezham Tamils in Mullaiththeevu and Ki'linochchi districts under the rule of SL President Maithiripala Sirisena, Tamil civil sources in Mullaiththeevu told TamilNet on Tuesday. Eezham Tamils who have been engaged in agriculture before the times of war and during the times of war and have commenced agriculture in their deed-lands have been instructed by the SL Forest Department officers not to enter their agricultural lands at Thuvaarang-ku'lam and Mooppan-ku'lam in Maanthai East. The Divisional Secretary, when contacted by TamilNet, also confirmed the take-over of lands that were even verified by the Divisional Secretary as agricultural lands belonging to people from Chiraaddik-ku'lam.

Colombo's desecration of Tamil Heroes Cemetery comes to light as SLA vacates Kanakapuram

[TamilNet, Monday, 12 September 2016, 07:12 GMT]
The occupying SL military destroyed Tamil War Heroes Cemetery (Maaveerar Thuyilum Illam) at Kanakapuram in Ki’linochchi in January 2009, desecrating the buried bodies of Tamil fighters in an inhumane manner and bulldozing all the tombstones. Hundreds of destroyed tombstones were used as stones for SL military driveways in the occupied Ki’linochchi. In 2013, as the people started to resettle, the elected Divisional Council of Karaichchi division resolved to transform the destroyed Heroes Cemetery into a park as the 10-acres land was originally a property of the civic body. Within a few days of the declaration, the SL military fenced off the lands to block the move and deployed the area for military use. Last week, the SL military finally vacated from the grounds and reporters were able to witness the extent of desecration and destruction caused by the SL military.

Colombo’s Fishing Ministry accelerates structural genocide with EU ‘certificate’

[TamilNet, Saturday, 10 September 2016, 09:20 GMT]
The European Union, influenced by Washington and London to impose a one-sided ban on the LTTE directed the Norwegian-brokered peace process into a genocidal end in 2009. The EU is now backing Colombo's ministries that engage in full-fledged structural genocide against Eezham Tamils, complain Tamil fishermen. The EU removed its import restrictions on Colombo’s fish exports citing Colombo’s Ministry of Fisheries ‘improving’ its legal framework, sanctions on illegal fishing etc. In the meantime, the same SL ministry has increased its activities against the Tamil fishing industry in the occupied North-East. A number of public servants in the sector serving the people since the times during the war are now being demoted or transferred. Local Tamil fishermen are being harassed with ‘lawsuits’ while intruding Sinhala fishing companies and fishermen have occupied the coastal stretch of Vanni.

Sirisena's Mahaweli Ministry spearheads massive-scale Sinhala colonisation in Batticaloa

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 06 September 2016, 23:54 GMT]
System B of Mahaweli scheme targets demographic genocide of Eezham TamilsUnder Mahinda Rajapaksa’s regime, it was Colombo's SL Forest Department, engineering the demographic genocide of big-scale land grab of pasturelands and converting the pasturelands in Batticaloa into Sinhala colonies. But now, SL President Maithiripala Sirisena’s so-called Mahaweli ‘Development’ Ministry is spearheading the structural genocide against Eezham Tamil dairy farmers by stepping up the Sinhala colonisation in 2016 with more than 1,000 hectares of forest and pasture lands, deploying retired Sinhala military men, armed ‘home guards’ paramilitary, Sinhalese traders from the South, Buddhist monks and poor Sinhala daily-wage labourers, says the secretary of Dairy Farmers Association in Kiraan and Chengka'ladi, Mr Nimalan Kanthasamy, who was interviewed by TamilNet this week.

Colombo schemes permanent appropriation of 11 GS Divisions in Valikaamam North

[TamilNet, Monday, 05 September 2016, 23:33 GMT]
SL President Maithiripala Sirisena is attempting to transfer uprooted Eezham Tamils from Valikaamam North who are currently residing in more than 30 camps into new ‘camps’ instead of resettling them in their own lands, said A Gunabalasingam, the president of Valikaamam North Rehabilitation Society. Condemning the Colombo government for latest deceptions through military-built slums and the plans to dump people into pockets of lands, Mr Gunabalasingam described the latest move as structural destruction as the schemes are separating and destroying the entire social and family structure of the uprooted villagers who have been awaiting to resettle in their own villages for decades.

Maithiripala Sirisena acts like D.S. Senanayake in colonizing Tamil lands in East

[TamilNet, Sunday, 04 September 2016, 21:43 GMT]
Maithiripala Sirisena’s Forest Department has seized 600 hectares of residential lands in the only remaining Tamil division Thirukkoayil in Ampaa’rai district, Tamil civil officials from the Divisional Secretariat told TamilNet. Comparing the occupation scheme and the current structural genocide in Ampaa’rai to the 1957 so-called Gal Oya Colonisation Scheme, the Tamil officials said Colombo’s Forest Department officials have planted border stones surrounding residential lands of uprooted Eezham Tamils from Chaakamam, Thangka-vea’laayutha-puram and Kagnchi-kuddichchaa’ru GS divisions after the 2007-2009 genocidal onslaught. Although 700 Tamil families were fighting to resettle in their lands, their pleas went unheeded, the civil officials said. The occupying military and the Colombo-controlled administration have been blocking the people from resetting in their own lands after the war.

Australian prosecution of Tamil deportation protest raises questions

[TamilNet, Saturday, 03 September 2016, 22:45 GMT]
Jasmine PilbrowMelbourne University student Jasmine Pilbrow, peacefully protesting against the deportation of an Eezham Tamil by refusing to sit down in a Qantas plane in February 2015, was criminalised by an Australian court on Friday. The 22-year-old girl was found guilty by Australia prosecuting the case as interference with a crewmember of an aircraft. When Pilbrow defended that she acted as the safety of another person’s life was at stake, the court dismissed it as her personal belief. But questions go unanswered that why the Australian federal police decided to cancel the deportation of the Tamil youth that day, if there was no substance in the protest, and why Pilbrow was neither arrested nor prosecuted at that time. She was charged one year later, in February this year.

Ban in Jaffna on his tenure’s last-ditch deception

[TamilNet, Friday, 02 September 2016, 15:24 GMT]
0The outgoing UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, who was visiting Jaffna on Friday, was avoiding even watching the protesting victims, who had gathered in large numbers outside the District Secretariat. Mr Ban took a different route to meet Reginald Cooray, the controversial colonial governor of genocidal Sri Lanka, whose office is also situated close to the District Secretariat. After meeting the SL Governor, Mr Ban proceeded to Jaffna Public Library, again taking a back-route without showing an iota of interest in consoling the victims who had gathered there to express their despair on the genocidal State of Sri Lanka. Ban Ki-moon’s eyewash visit to Jaffna foretells a plot for another round of deception at Geneva this month, political observers commented.

Systemic impossibility of Colombo's reconciliation exposed: Tamil political prisoners

[TamilNet, Friday, 02 September 2016, 06:28 GMT]
Colombo's Attorney General's Department is prolonging the detention of Tamil prisoners, who were detained by the SL Military Intelligence before 2010, Tamil political prisoners said this week. While proposing to release those detained after 2010, Colombo is insistent upon prolonging the detention of Tamil political prisoners detained for several years by transferring their cases to the so-called Special Court in Anuradhapura, which has only investigated 3 of the 18 cases of Tamil prisoners of war since its establishment. The same court has investigated hundreds of petty crimes, they said. Colombo insisting upon subjecting Eezham Tamils on ‘Terrorism’ charges while entertaining Sinhala genocidaires with State honour has amply demonstrated that Colombo is not prepared to face the future with necessary attitudinal change, they further said.

CBK answerable for crimes committed under her regime: Ananthy Sasitharan

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 31 August 2016, 20:43 GMT]
0Executive Presidents of the SL State in the past and at the present are accountable and answerable for the crimes committed during their regimes, said Ananthy Sasitharan on Tuesday. She was targeting former SL President Chandrika Kumaratunga (CBK), who is now heading the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation (ONUR), as responsible, accountable and answerable for the crimes committed during her rule. “If the current and former presidents are serious about reconciliation, they should first stop calling the genocidal war a ‘humanitarian war’. They should officially recognize the Tamil struggle as a liberation struggle and those who participated in it as freedom fighters without any qualms or reluctance. We can only start reconciliation from a position that those who were made to disappear were not terrorists,” Ananthy has said vowing to step up the campaign for international justice.

The latest abduction in Ki'linochchi, believed to be the work of SL Military Intelligence, is the ‘military response’ to the destruction of Buddha statues in the early hours of the day, political activists in Ki'linochchi said.

[TamilNet, Monday, 29 August 2016, 23:31 GMT]
Occupying Colombo's Defence Ministry has instructed the SL Government Agent in Jaffna, Mr N. Vethanayagan to issue three different letters to the uprooted families in Valikaamam North, who are staying in the so-called welfare camps in Jaffna. A section of the people have been asked to prepare to move out of their camps and to accept alternative housing-scheme [being built by the occupying military]. Around 70 of the families staying at Sabapathipillai camp in Chunnaakam have received a second-type of letter that states that in the event their lands were to be permanently seized for military use, they would be compensated with ‘suitable’ and ‘lucrative’ alternatives. The letters have caused confusion and anger among the uprooted people who have been staying in the camps for more than 25 years.

Colombo steps up deceptive preparations for Ban Ki-moon's ‘inspection’

[TamilNet, Sunday, 28 August 2016, 21:59 GMT]
As UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is scheduled to visit the island on a three-day tour on Wednesday, Colombo government has engaged its ministers for deceptive preparations for Mr Moon to claim that ‘progress’ was being made by the SL State on the Human Rights front. In the meantime, the SL military intelligence has been given sweeping powers as the topmost agency for terror surveillance on Eezham Tamils. The occupying SL Army has also gained wide powers of spearheading the continued structural genocide by controlling the affairs of resettlement under the guise of Sinhala soldiers engaging in ‘reconciliation’ housing schemes. Meanwhile, Tamil political prisoners in the prisons of genocidal Sri Lanka for more than 7 years have complained that Colombo was completely ignoring the release of Tamil Prisoners of War, especially those who have been detained since before May-2009.

Details of next-phase structural genocide of Valikaamam North come to light

[TamilNet, Saturday, 27 August 2016, 23:08 GMT]
The commander of occupying SL military in Jaffna, Major General Mahesh Senanayake staged a hurriedly organised ‘ceremony’ on Friday instructing a section of recipients selected for 20 of 100 houses in the military-constructed housing-scheme at limestone quarry lands in Keerimalai. Sinhala military personnel outnumbering the civilian recipients of the housing scheme were demonstrating how the people of Valikaamam North are going to be surrounded by the occupying military forever. While the occupying SL military has robbed more than 5,000 acres of fertile, residential lands in the Valikaamam North and the entire Mayiliddi coast with the most resource-rich sea beds in the North and evicted more than 50,000 people from their villages, the Sirisena blueprint now wants to create resettlement slums and make the people of Valikaamam North subordinate to Sinhala military.

EPRLF and PLOTE leaders have been harassed by the Sampanthan polity not to be involved with the uprising. However, Dharmalingam Siddharthan and Suresh Premachandran have refused to yield to the pressure to change their stance, informed political sources in Jaffna told TamilNet.
