UNP releases SLA casualty figures

(News Feature) The leader of the main Sri Lankan opposition party, Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe said in parliament today that over 1900 Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troops had been killed and 2000 wounded when the Liberation Tigers overran the Kilinochchi SLA base complex last week. Mr. Wickremasinghe's sources were said to be from SLA HQ and Military Intelligence.

Tigers raise flag over Kilinochchi

The Liberation Tigers marked the recapture of the key northern town of Kilinochchi from the Sri Lanka Army by hoisting the Tiger flag yesterday evening at 5.55 p.m. said the Voice of Tigers (VoT) radio. A large number of people attended the ceremony which was held where the SLA Brigade Head Quarters had been situated, the radio said.

Lion air flight located- official

The SLA is flying a group of Sri Lankan journalists to Anuradhapura to see the alleged surrendees. Sources in Vavuniya claimed that only 26 boys and girls, alleged to be LTTE fighters, were brought to Vavuniya this afternoon.
