SLA claims early success

Heavy fighting is reported between the Liberation Tigers (LTTE) and the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) near Ambakamam, north-east of the strategic Mankulam junction in the northern Vanni region, said sources in Vavuniya. Four SLA soldiers were killed and 22 were wounded in the latest fighting, said SLA sources.

SLA deserter Surrenders

A deserter from the Sri Lankan Army (SLA) who was arrested and sent to operational areas of the Vanni surrendered to the Liberation Tigers, said the LTTE today. The Liberation Tigers added that the SLA soldier would be handed over to his parents according to his wishes through the International Red Cross Committee (ICRC).

SLA says finds LTTE member's body
