Naayaa’ru village in Mullaiththeevu fully Sinhalicised

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 05 July 2016, 15:54 GMT]
0The Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development of genocidal Colombo and the occupying Sinhala military in Karai-thu’raip-pattu division of Mullaiththeevu district have completely transformed the ancient coastal Tamil village of Naayaa’ru, situated in Chemmalai-East GS division, civil sources in Mullaiththeevu said. The Sinhala colonisation of Naayaa’ru has taken place after seizing the strategic Mukaththuvaaram from Tamils. More than one-thousand Sinhalese belonging to 299 Sinhala families have now fully occupied the coastal stretch. The area is maintained as a military zone. Tamils and their GS officials are completely barred from entering this zone, Tamil fishermen in Karai-thu’raip-pattu say.

Gaining more ‘time and space’ at Geneva, Colombo steps up genocidal grip on Eezham Tamils in Vanni

[TamilNet, Monday, 04 July 2016, 22:40 GMT]
The so-called Civil Security Department (CSD), which comes under the purview of the Ministry of Defence of genocidal Sri Lanka, is trying to seize 500 acres of additional farmlands at several locations of Mullaiththeevu district through ‘legal’ means, civil sources in Vanni said. While the genocidal-paradigm is upheld by the powers through a passive discourse at Geneva, the CSD under Maithiripala Sirisena is absorbing more farmlands through Sinhala military corporatism. The enslaved Eezham Tamils are to be deployed as slaves and more Tamil children are going to be subjected to brainwashing by the SL military. In the meantime, the income generated from the military-run farms is being channelled to employ a Sinhala-only armed paramilitary, known as Civil Defence Force (CDF) to colonize strategic Tamil lands along the coast and the interior borders of the occupied country of Eezham Tamils.

UN’s credibility on delivery of justice seriously eroded: rights activist in Batticaloa

[TamilNet, Saturday, 02 July 2016, 23:12 GMT]
Even after coming up with resolutions and reports, the response coming from Human Rights chief with regards to practical delivery on international justice is based upon the thinking of giving more time and space to the Sri Lankan regime, which is acting against the spirit of accountability, Justice and rule of law, says Kathir Barathythasan, a leading human rights activist from Batticaloa. In an interview to TamilNet this week, the activist, who has served as the secretary of Citizens’ committees in Batticaloa and Ampaa’rai and Gandhi Seva Sangam, said the people on the ground, particularly the victims, will remain firm on seeking justice to thousands of their kith and kin perished in the 2009 onslaught and in demanding the whereabouts of those who have been reported missing.

Genocidal Colombo demonstrates its ‘respect’ to passive discourse by UNHRC with latest abduction

[TamilNet, Friday, 01 July 2016, 23:34 GMT]
While the Foreign Minister of genocidal Sri Lanka was telling the Human Rights Council in Geneva that his State had ratified the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Disappearance on Wednesday, the SL Military Intelligence of the SL State abducted a father of three and subjected him for a day-long unimaginable torture before dumping him away at a farmland in Mannaar with a warning that if he talked about what had happened to him at the torture chamber, he would be shot and killed next time. The victim, 38-year-old Santhiyogu Anton is receiving medical treatment at ward 04 of Mannaar hospital and the SL Police is ensuring what the abductors wanted the victim to do in remaining total silence to the world what had happened to him. The victim has revealed that there was at least one another person in the torture chamber of SL military intelligence.

Time for fundamental change in IC outlook on ‘Sri Lanka’

[TamilNet, Thursday, 30 June 2016, 23:45 GMT]
Whatever the deviations in the Zeid report on Sri Lanka that has left the world to count petty trees and to lose the sight of the genocidal wood in the island, the report, listing overwhelming failures on the part of the State in Colombo even in implementing the most lenient resolution in recent UN history, indirectly urges paradigmatic changes in the current ‘Sri Lanka’ outlook of the International Community of Establishments, commented Tamil activists for alternative politics in the island. The report evidences the urgent need to address the issue more directly and proactively with the core paradigm-setters in Washington, London and New Delhi, the activists further said, urging Tamil polity and international human rights activism to take up an appropriate struggle strategy.

Zeid’s report implies ‘operation success, but patient died’

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 29 June 2016, 17:55 GMT]
UN Human Rights Chief Zeid Ra-ad al-Hussein was listing on Wednesday the symbolic measures taken by the genocidal Colombo as efforts towards reconciliation and transitional justice in the island. However, his own update was also listing how the SL State has not lived up to the expectations although he projected them as slow delivery. The report was a pathetic exercise as it failed to indicate any single UN action towards charting real accountability. While the powers are appeasing the genocidal Sinhala military, which is occupying the homeland of Eezham Tamils, the only UN action mentioned in the oral update was shielding the genocidal military as that action too was trading off international justice with whitewashing a Sri Lankan combat convoy battalion to be deployed at a UN peace mission in Mali.

Ko’ndachchi becomes hub of Maithiripala regime’s Sinhala colonization in Mannaar

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 28 June 2016, 23:34 GMT]
The occupying military of genocidal Sri Lanka has transformed 6,000 acres of cashew plantation farm lands in the Musali division of Mannaar district in the country of Eezham Tamils as the hub of Sinhala military colonization targeting Musali. The so-called Sinhala home guards, which is uniformed and paid paramilitary force named Civil Security Force (CSF) and the SL Navy are controlling the entire farm, situated in Mannaar district bordering Anurathapura and Puththa’lam districts. The Cashew Corporation was earlier under the Ministry of Plantation Industries. But, after the change of government last year, the plantation has been brought under SL Ministry of Public Enterprises Development. In reality, the SL Defence Ministry is maintaining the area as a military corporatist establishment and as an entertainment base for Sinhala Navy.

[TamilNet, Monday, 27 June 2016, 22:11 GMT]
0More than 400 Eezham Tamils, comprising rights activists, uprooted people from SL military-occupied lands and relatives of persons subjected to enforced disappearance, staged a protest march in Jaffna on Monday condemning the deceptive internal investigation discourse charted by the “USA-Sri Lanka consensus resolution”. Denouncing the smokescreen measures by the SL State, the protesters were calling for international criminal investigations as well as demanding the UN system to investigate the State responsibility for the root crime of genocide. Meanwhile, Intelligence operatives of the occupying SL military were tracing the origin of the organisers behind the protest and the participants were subjected to strict surveillance harassment.

Vavuniyaa protest echoes Tamil sentiments running against ICE-manipulated ‘Transitional Justice’

[TamilNet, Sunday, 26 June 2016, 14:15 GMT]
0The soft agents of external powers, posing themselves as ‘non-governmental’ organisations in Colombo receiving funds through the development agencies of US-aligned external powers in the so-called International Community of Establishments, have made mockery of the term ‘Transitional Justice’ by turning it into a buzzword for fund-oriented Colombo-based NGO operatives. “To NGOs Transitional Justice is like cash tree. For us, it is a drama of international deception,” said a banner of Vavuniyaa Citizens’ Committee, which organised a protest jointly with the Forum for Searching Handed, Kidnapped and Forcibly Disappeared persons Relatives (FSHFDR) opposing the creation of Colombo-based ‘Office for Missing Persons’ (OMP).

Colombo maintains ethnic chauvinism, majoritarianism in North-East: Bishop Ponniah

[TamilNet, Saturday, 25 June 2016, 19:19 GMT]
“I can categorically state that a lot of promises made by the [new] government [towards the Tamil people] have not been fulfilled,” said Bishop of Batticaloa Rt. Rev. Dr. Joesph Ponniah in a recent interview to TamilNet. Some of the root causes to the escalation of ethnic conflict were SL State-backed Sinhala colonization of lands in the North and East and the discrimination in providing equal opportunities. These have a 60-year old history. The reality remains the same even today. What prevails in the North and East is not peace. There is an enforced silence coupled with threat, oppression and militarization by the ethnic majority. There is no change in the attitude of ethnic chauvinism, the Bishop said questioning the hidden motives of Washington and New Delhi collaborating with Colombo and how the situation of the people in North-East getting affected by the motives of these powers.

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 22 June 2016, 16:05 GMT]

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 21 June 2016, 15:47 GMT]
A supervisor rank worker associated with demining work carried out by Swiss Foundation for Mine Action (FSD) and was deployed in clearing Unexploded ordnance (UXO) between 2010 and 2014 in Puthukkudiyiruppu (PTK) where SL military deployed cluster bombs and chemical weapons during the genocidal onslaught in 2009, told TamilNet this week that the hierarchy of the FSD, when alerted about the traces of cluster bombs and crucial human skeletal remains indicating deployment of chemical warheads, communicated the matter to the SL military under Gotabhaya Rajapaksa's military establishment, which was quick to remove the traces. If the workers revealed the findings, the FSD would lose its project and they would risk losing their jobs as funds coming from USA, Japan and EU would go to other mine clearing agencies, the workers were told by the FSD hierarchy.

Sri Lanka used cluster bombs against Tamils, says Guardian

[TamilNet, Monday, 20 June 2016, 22:42 GMT]
New photographic evidence leaked by an employee of a large demining organization, Halo Trust, and independently corroborated by Human Rights Watch that the material pictured as the "remnants of Russian-made cluster bombs and unexploded cluster submunitions, emerged as the 32nd sessions of the UN Human Rights Council opened last week, said UK Guardian in an exclusive story Monday. The photographs depict cluster bombs uncovered within Sri Lanka Government declared "no fire zones" where Tamil civilians were asked to gather for their safety during the final stages of the war, the paper said. Reports produced by the UN and several rights groups have found that war crimes and crimes against humanity may have been committed by the Sri Lankan forces, but so far no senior member of the Government or the armed forces has been held accountable, the paper added.

Independent mobilisation key to emancipation of stateless nations: Baloch editor

[TamilNet, Sunday, 19 June 2016, 20:46 GMT]
Faiz M Baluch“The root cause is the colonial system that they imposed on us. The shift of establishment is merely a substitution of one strand of colonial rulers with another,” says Faiz M Baluch, the editor-in-chief of Balochwarna and a member of the International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (IVBMP). “The question is do we have the same basic democratic rights like other free nation or not. Moreover, do we have the rights to sovereignty and self-preservation or not,” Mr Faiz further asked when interviewed by TamilNet. He urged oppressed nations to rely on their own national bases as well as to build organic solidarity between other stateless nations to achieve their national emancipation.

Latin America readily understands US game on Eezham Tamils: Dr Malathy

[TamilNet, Saturday, 18 June 2016, 23:19 GMT]
Dr. N. Malathy“It appears that in Latin America people readily understand the geopolitical issues and the USA’s leading role in inhumane interventionism. Obviously this is neither understood nor accepted in the English-speaking world. Strangely vast majority of the people in India and Eelam Tamils too have so far failed to understand this. But the Latin American people do […] Immersed in the English-speaking world Eelam Tamils have no direct experience of solidarity from others. On the contrary, the Eelam Tamils only know the incessant and derogatory bashing of their struggle from the English-speaking world,” writes Dr. N. Malathy a key member of North-East Secretariat on Human Rights (NESoHR) and the author of ‘A Fleeting Moment in My Country’, who recently visited Ecuador as a member of a solidarity delegation.

EPW article on Sinhala nationalism turns veiled threat to bailout Colombo

[TamilNet, Friday, 17 June 2016, 20:35 GMT]
“After the presidential and parliamentary elections of 2015, Sinhala nationalism is on the retreat but would most certainly play the once powerful anti-state role it played in the1980s and 1990s, in the context of the new government’s reconciliation programme and war crimes investigations,” said a Special Feature appeared in June 4 issue of the Mumbai-based, Economic & Political Weekly. Does this correspond to Chinese ambassador in Colombo ‘advising’ Lankan leaders to see that reconciliation mechanisms suggested by the UNHRC do not themselves create new conflicts and advising them to put ‘development’ before reconciliation? Has it been timed by the EPW to set the tone at the current UNHRC sessions for a collective excuse of genocidal Sri Lanka by Beijing, New Delhi and Washington, asked Tamil activists for alternative politics in the island.

China re-interferes surpassing US-Indian paradigm of genocidal Sri Lanka

[TamilNet, Thursday, 16 June 2016, 00:17 GMT]
Yi XianliangLast week, Chinese ambassador in Colombo, Mr. Yi Xianliang, went beyond Washington and New Delhi in upholding the paradigm of genocidal Sri Lanka, as he was open in detracting reconciliation and in derailing any UN intervention, which the USA and India are doing covertly. The ambassador said that it would be ill advised to put reconciliation before development and advised Lankan leaders to see that reconciliation mechanisms suggested by the UNHRC do not themselves create new conflicts. Rather than correcting the reconciliation and UNHRC deceptions coming from the USA, but negating even fundamental norms aspired by Tamils and interfering into their very existence as a nation, ironically the ambassador said China is against outside interference in domestic affairs.
